This will be released 5 years after Halo 3 came out, one hell of a wait...

A new HD graphics engine would be nice.

What's the betting it will be rubbish now Bungie isn't at the helm?

If the next Xbox comes out fall 2014, surely Halo 5 will be a launch title?

Saying that, Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3 were all 3 years apart.

343 has some very talented people on the team with a lot of big Halo fans among them (including several ex-Bungie guys and Frankie overseeing everything), sci-fi writers like Greg Bear on board expanding the Halo universe (see Halo: Cryptum), and a lot of money and support from MS - they've done a great job with the stuff they've worked on so far so fingers crossed. Frankie mentioned they've been working on Halo 4 for a couple of years now BTW.

I bet it will be even better for it. They're going to be determined to make it a winner because all the naysayers will be doubting them.

I personally thought it was time for new blood since - in my opinion, at least - the single player quality has been going steadily downhill since the first.

If the multiplayer gets dedicated servers and custom games browsing, and plays like Halo 3. It'll be phenomenal.

Looking forward to it. I've never really got into the fiction and I wouldn't really consider myself a big fan but the games are always fun so bring it on.

I'm a sucker for a big name sequel but this is THE sequel that I've been waiting for. Return of the Chief has been a long time coming - can't believe it would've been 5 years since the Chief's last appearance. Honestly speaking i haven't really liked many of the characters in the subsequent Halo games since Halo 3 so i can't wait for the Chief/Cortana combo to be re-united so to speak. I've got a lot of faith in 343. I'm not a huge multiplayer man i'm more about the campaign and with this being their first proper Halo game i can see 343 wanting to play things safe. With Chief and Cortana likely to be landing on some unknown planet, i wonder if they'll look to create a sense of almost fear and vulnerability. With potentially unknown enemies and such, i think there's a lot of potential here for 343 to do something brilliant here.

Loved the CGI trailer...i wonder how far off the next round of consoles will be in terms of graphics and stuff. Will this be running off a new engine though? The Reach engine? With the next gen possible coming soon will they create a new engine now for Halo 4 and just upgrade it for the next gen?

But how can a spaceship with a breached hull be on fire?

Anung wrote:More Halo  Honestly strawberry float the haters I don't care as long as I gets me more Halo. As I've said in the other thread I hope they can build up a universe with a similar scope to what came before because whilst the Halo series hasn't always had the best storylines or game play the universe itself always had me coming back for more.

Exactly how I feel Anung :D

Can't wait to see the new engine running and finding out/seeing the new enemies. I think 343 will do a fantastic job with this, they've put together a really good team to work on it.

Big sphere thing maybe has its own atmosphere, like a Halo ring.

I agree. Halo is one of my favourite game series but even as a fan I could see it was gradually becoming a bit stale under Bungie as it is now. Besides there are some ex Bungie staff in at 343 who know the series and what makes it great. Can't wait for either of them, Microsoft may have had a crap conference but Halo 4 has to be the highlight of E3 as far as I'm concerned. :)

I don't think Halo's ever really tried to give an accurate representation of outer space.
