I read a synopsis of the current Halo story after I finished Halo 4. Well, I say "read" I pretty much stopped at mention of a "Lord of Admirals." It's gash. Second rate Syfy Channel gash. Infuriates me how people drool over this garbage when there's a shitton of genuinely brilliant sci-fi writing out there (coughForeverWarcough).

For real. What I loved about the original games were you could take them at face value and enjoy it as is. The expanded universe stuff was merely dressing, a lot of it great, that adds depth without being the be all. Ghosts of Onyx is an incredible book.

Right I have to strawberry floating read this book..

You should read Fall of Reach and First Strike first, it's a sequel to them.

[iup=3548367]1>3>4>2[/iup] wrote:I was as hyped as anyone about 4. But that plot does not make sense. The bad buys motivation requires you to read a bunch of badly written gooseberry fool to understand. Maybe even a trilogy of books I can't remember. I think Microsoft put their want in making halo some vast multi-media franchise in front of making halo 4 a game with a comprehensible story. I also preferred not knowing anything about the forerunners.

It was a trilogy, although the final book was delayed until after Halo 4 came out. Even if you've read all of those books, Halo 4 is still all over the place with its story telling.

I never had a problem with the Library. It's lazy as strawberry float from a design viewpoint but not knowing how long the endless corridor was going to last as the Flood continued to pour from the walls made it really quite tense. Probably the only Halo level I out and out hate is Cortana from 3 which I still think was the result of Bungie losing a bet.

Then again, Reach remains my favorite game in the series so what do I know.

I loved going through Halo 1 again, I actually loved it. Its been so long since I played Halo3 that I forget lots of it, which is a plus. Did it have a jungle bit at the start that involved sniping covenant on branches and then lead to a kind of aztec clearing with heavily armoured brutes with hammers or have I lost my mind? An Xbox One for €120?

MS are doing something right though to interest you. ;)

Pity you wont be around for the MP this time around, dedicated servers FTW and Lockdown. :datass:

I too think Library gets a hard time, it's incredible on the harder difficulties. Genuinely tense and frightening. Cortana is particularly horrible the first time you play it, because you're pretty much guaranteed to get lost, but on subsequent plays isn't so bad. I think that's probably how it stayed in the game, because all the Bungie staff would have played it multiple times and no longer been able to come at it fresh and see how frustrating it is.

In an interview in X-One magazine (subsequently posted on Reddit), actor Mike Colter - who plays Agent Locke in the TV series - says he is the star of Halo 5.

"Yeah, I'm a playable character in Halo 5," he claims. "Once Halo: The Master Chief Collection is released, and then Halo 5 comes out shortly thereafter, you're basically going to be playing a game with me as the primary character."

"I'll have some cool weaponry, and some cool abilities, because by that time I'll be a Spartan IV." While Colter didn't give any further information on how much of the game is spent controlling Agent Locke, he did also give some hints that suggested at least part of the campaign involves searching for Master Chief. "What's not known, is whether I'm a friend or foe," he teased. "The relationship between Master Chief and Jameson Locke is going to be interesting. Because what's the outcome?

"Is he dead or alive? Because that's usually what a manhunt comes down to, dead or alive, but you won't know what the purpose of finding Master Chief is [right away].

"Or what will happen if we do find him, what condition he will be in, and where he's at mentally. But I'm sure that'll be a plot twist in Halo 5."

Stinkles on GAF says -

"A" primary character,

Chief is the main character and hero.

"They're probably gonna test the waters to see if they can retire Master Chief."

NO.

The end.

That makes about as much sense as Nintendo retiring Mario or Zelda.

I realise Master Chief may not be the greatest character ever but without him Halo is just another FPS.

ODST & Reach > Halo 2 and 4

I'm fine with no Chief, he adds nothing and they could replace him with an actual character, not an poster boy.

Calling Master Chief a character is like looking at a photo of a burger and counting it as a meal.

There's a 117 bus that goes through my town, it has more character than John 117.

Its one thing ill always give credit to Halo CE for, it built a really interesting world, with intriguing enemies, and pretty much every section of the game felt absolutely Alien the first time you played it, but rather than shove too much story gooseberry fool in your face it held it back and let you use your imagination. Still remember being blown away by that cutscene where the flood get introduced for the first time :D

Yeah, love that scene when chief pics up the helmet and looks at the recording, Looking forward to seeing it all over again in anniversary in a month. :datass:

They are porting Halo CE anniversary complete with updated graphics (that can be turned on and off at will) except this time in 1080p and 60FPS.

IGN have TMC as its gaming first this month and are going to show footage of all 4 campaigns as well as the non remastered MP maps (which im interested in). I'm really interested to see how Halo 3 looks and plays in new res and 60FPS, along with the new lighting they added.

39kills no deaths? jaysus, what is that called Killtacular? Killmegeddon, haha, love the anouncer guy.

It'd be good to have you back on board in Halo MP man, I know you wont but a guy can dream.
