Out now!! -

The Americans are coming, but will the war be over by the time they get there? Germany throws everything into a last series of stupendous attacks in the West while hoping to avoid getting burned by a fire in the East they helped fan.

Often relegated to the role of slavish cannon fodder for Sparta's spears, the Achaemenid Persian empire had a glorious heritage. Under a single king they created the greatest empire the world had ever seen.

Bumping this thread, I've just finished listening to the WW1 series "Blueprint for Armageddon", all 24 hours of it, and it was FANTASTIC.

End quote.

If you feel like bunging Dan some money (and it's only a buck a show) then I'd recommend buying the Ghosts of the Ostfront. It's $6 from his website and it's really good. I'm sure there are other ways/means to get it but it's definitely worth the cash.

I've already donated off the back of the WW1 podcasts, felt he deserved it for delivering such a sublime slice of history. Always happy to donate to things that produce genuine quality, so I'll be parting with a bit more cash before long :D

I'm only on the second part, but thoroughly enjoying it. He has the way of keeping me really engrossed.

I think its his passion for the subject matter that keeps me listening. You can tell he loves talking about this stuff, not that he takes pleasure from describing the horrors of war but his fascination with it is obvious and he makes it clear that hes not a scholar, just a guy with a love for history, its kinda infectious.

I also bought and started the Logical Insanity (atomic bomb) podcast to listen to, I can see myself burning through all of his content over the next few months. So glad I've been exposed to this (thanks Tafdolphin  )

It's really rekindled a passion for history that I used to have at school :D

It made me realise that I might have had a passion for history had my teacher not been terrible. :fp:

Not as good as HH but not bad for filling the long gaps between HH episodes - https://www.thebritishhistorypodcast.com/ or https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the ... d440985304

I'd add that while not a Podcast, The World At War is essential viewing if you have even a passing interest in WWII. Something about it, along with Lawrence Olivier's narration makes it utterly compelling.

Thinking about rewatching it once I finish Blueprint for Armageddon.

The World At War's WW1 "sequel" The Great War is also essential viewing.

New five hour long episode out today on nuclear war that, in light of recent events, is already a troubling listen.
