Went a bit crazy on a steam summer sale a few years ago and barely scratched the surface of it, so nope. Long since came to terms with not playing all of them or even close to that, since a lot of them seemed good at the time but are not really worth my time.

I fell off the wagon in the first half of this year but have pulled it together since, allthough all the free games on twitch this month haven't helped. I've also become a lot more realistic in terms of knowing what i'm never going to play and should avoid buying on a whim without second thought.

Nope, even when I was better at managing it I always had a game or two waiting to be played minimum. Its not too bad on console, I have a couple of Wii games I want to play, I got them when I got my Wii U but I never got to them. Theres nothing on my Wii U backlog, I just got an Xbox One so I dont really have a backlog there and eveything I have on Switch has been played a fair amount, though I do need to put some more time into Doom, been ignoring it for the Mario vs Rabbids DLC. On PC its totally out of control, Steam sales and Humble Bundles mean I have way too many games and nowhere neat enough time to play them. I have been chipping away at it over time but I have hundreds of games to play there so it will probably never be cleared.

It depends on your criteria for "clearing" I guess. When is a game no longer on your backlog:

When you've 100%-ed it?
When you've completed the story?
When you've seen the credits?
When you're bored of it?

There was probably a time around the 16-bit console generation when I may have cleared my backlog. Games were now much more expensive than the Spectrum days and my access to cash was not yet at the level where I could afford to buy more than a couple of games per year so I was almost certain to have exhausted all the games available to me before getting hold of a new release.

But those days are long gone now - far more games are being released than ever, I've got more disposable income available to me, there are ridiculous game sales and freebies being thrown around almost all the time, and there are far more ways to hear and see games that others are playing so the FOMO level is through the roof, all of which results in a scenario where I can't help but end up with more games than I can play!

I haven't even scrapped the barrel on my backlog as there's plenty of Wii U, PS4, Switch, 3DS, DS games I've only tried for a little while.
But I have been completing nearly all new PS4 games this year with only Monster Hunter, Metal Gear Survive and Ni No Kuni I haven't completed yet.

Just looking at my Steam library on Steam Calculator and it shows;

Products by time played
    12 or more hours - 21
    6 to 12 hours - 11
    3 to 6 hours - 17
    2 to 3 hours - 15
    1 to 2 hours - 11
    0 to 1 hours - 33
    Never played - 300

Then on PS4 I have roughly 60 games installed (with more in my library) and I'd say more than half of those are not yet completed. Xbone Xhas 38 installed and same again with more than half not played or completed.

Absolutely impossibru. With so many systems spanning so many years, I don't think I could even play all of them in a year, let alone complete them.

I've still got games on my Amstrad that I've never played ffs :fp:

I have thought of somebody that I know has completed their entire backlog.

My mother has never played games and is not interested at all, but for some reason she played Super Marioland on the Gameboy. She completed it and then lost all interest and has never played anything else.

So completing your backlog is possible, but only if you ever play one game in your entire life.

I’ve been close a few times but a new console or a rush of games or sale games have ruined all chances

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

Me too, when they were doing indie and mobile bundles every month or so I was finding it hard to resist!

I once had a massive gooseberry fool after an agonising three or four days of constipation but I realise that isn't what you're asking.
