I've volunteered for parkrun a couple of times, and tried to volunteer for a race on Saturday but they didn't need anyone else.

I've done charity shop Saturday work, a week working holiday rebuilding a canal, cancer research night race marshalling, and most virtuously been an ONM mod.

Don't do anything currently, but that's full-time employment for you.

I volunteered in a museum for a year. Parts of it were great, like doing research requests, while sitting at the front desk on days when almost nobody comes in was boring as hell.

Does it count when your school volunteers your entire class and then forces you into it?

My employer grants every employee (currently over 2000) two 'charity days' per year, it's up to employees to organise it but we generally have free reign on what causes we choose. Typically I use my days to help out at Chestnut Tree House and events raising money for Water Aid.

I’ve ‘volunteered’ to do unpaid gigs at a few places before, if that counts.

I do STEM gooseberry fool for work. But work tend to cover the hours so it probably doesn't count,

I used to do shopping for old people when I was unemployed, that wasn't fun.

I've been volunteering in Scouts for like 6/7 years now, started out doing it for my D of E and then just carried it on ever since. It's rewarding in that I was in Scouts myself all the way from Beavers to Explorers (never got round to joining a Network group though) and I definitely got a lot out of it so it's nice knowing I'm helping to provide the same opportunities for others. Also very good for my CV considering I'm looking at going into teaching.

Done some charity work as well, mainly through stuff we did in Scouts, but also volunteered in RAG Week this year - although the bulk of money raised through that was down to 50p from every pint of Diesel sold in the SU that week being donated to the RAG charities, which added up to a *lot* considering there were nightly events that everyone on crew was heavily encouraged to go to.

My workplace regularly organises charitable stuff. I've never volunteered.

No, I work for a dedicated group of hardworking spiritualists who simply want to spread the wor- ah strawberry float, maybe, yea.

Volunteered with St Vincent de Paul (Catholic volunteering organisation) at school, my mate blagged it so our group got an afternoon off school every week reading with primary school kids followed by an early dart instead of staying late making sandwiches for care home residents. Was alright!

Later volunteered teaching Ju-Jitsu to visually impaired and disabled children. The charity we worked with allowed really severely disabled kids to have opportunities to play and experience things they couldn't in mainstream groups. Was genuinely one of the best things I've ever done.
