HDMI Splitters

Would buying something like this effect TV image quality negatively at all?

I ask because I'm likely going to buy a Wii U and I already switch the HDMI cable in my TV between the 360 and PS4. It's not a huge pain but if a splitter like the above doesn't impact image quality, then I may as well get one for ease.

Have one very similar and havent noticed anything on my ps3,wii u or pc that i use it with.

Do get a powered splitter as they generally perform much better than the non-powered ones (as not all HDMI cables send sufficient power to the splitter to power the splitter and send a signal still). Plus, non-powered splitters tend to use shitty mechanical switches inside them (unlike their powered versions).

I have that one too - excellent and non powered. Been using it without problem for more than 3 months.

I had that exact model, seemed to work fine for me. Though I eventually replaced it with a 5 way splitter with an IR remote for changing between the sources, an auto switcher is fine if you are only ever going to have one of the devices on at the time, but if you plan to regularly have more than one of the devices on at a time, its nice to have a way of switching between them without digging around behind the TV to find the switch.

It's possible cheaper splitters might have issues with HDCP or newer revisions of the HDMI standards, but HDMI is digital, so ostensibly it shouldn't make any difference. It shouldn't degrade the image. Either the signal is there or it's not.

I would recommend a powered splitter though, and one with a remote control for the convenience. A degraded signal would introduce snow effect and intermittently cut out, which a cheaper un-powered one did for me due to the cable length used either end.
