Oh yeah, I certainly wouldn't recommend buying one day one, I just wanted to point out there were new sets from almost all the manufacturers coming out in the next month or so. I'm expecting substantial discounts after the World Cup is done, and then more around Black Friday (that was around the time we had sub-£1500 LG B7's last year).

I'm kind of tempted to buy an 84" TV, just for the bloody stupidity of it.

It would be worth it just for when you get used to it and everyone else's TV feels tiny.

On that subject, it really is amazing how used to a large tv you can get. When we got ours and turned it on for the first time, it felt like this:

But now we're used to it, I actually found myself squinting at something the other day. Squinting on a massive tv ffs :lol:

Like when I play my switch in handheld mode, Mario is about half the size of my thumb, but when it's on the tv he's about a foot tall, and I'm used to it. We had people come over at the weekend and they were constantly remarking on how massive the tv is, yet I don't see it any more.

Tldr first world problems buy the biggest tv you can because you'll get used to it no matter what.

Definitely. I remember when my dad came home with a flat screen TV, I'd say about 40" and it felt like we had a cinema screen in our house. My girlfriend and I have a TV of the same size of better quality in our bedroom now and it feels like we may as well be watching stuff on our phone.

It's going to be insane in the future when TV's are pretty much painted onto every wall in the house and all you'll need to do is decide where and how big the picture will be.

Depends on the set up of your room. I personally haven't got used to the size. It still feels enormous and like being at a home cinema. My tv and couch are set up to focus on it and its stand puts it at eye line and just above. I've got art on my walls. My TV is just fine where it is.

I spend hours strawberry floating around with the settings dependant on what I'm watching or playing. It's great. Can't wait to see God Of War or lost legacy on it.

If I won the lottery or something (difficult because I don't play), I'd definitely be getting a 100" ZD9...

Optical also doesn't support True HD surround, sadly. However, my amp does support it and it would be an upgrade on what I have at the moment, so I may have to make do with that unitl I can eventually sporing to a better amp.

On Watchdog last night they had a segment on those that had purchased Smart TVs because they were "Smart" and were now upset because a number of the apps such as iPlayer and ITV Hub are no longer supported (one couple after less than 2 years). They were basically told to purchase a usb stick or a games console.

Bet it still has that godawful Android OS though.

I have serious buyers remorse after spending over a grand on a TV that can barely load up Netflix without grinding to a halt.

I'm extremely happy with my £700 Samsung.
Yes, there are most likely better TV's but this set is great for gaming (my main usage and it has apparently excellent refresh rate or response time or whatever it is) and at 55 inch is pretty much as large as I can use in my room. I had a budget of £1200 when I bought it and I've saved enough to fund my gaming habit for quite a while.

I have the UE55MU7000 and it's pretty amazing.

You're right, but what they're doing now with it is quite an elegant solution. And it runs really nicely, unlike Android.
