I got the TV today and it's great.
I struggled to work out how to turn on HDR but once I did the effect is amazing.

Well worth the money :toot: :toot: :toot: :toot: .

The Sony A1 55” OLED is now £1999 (in-store purchase only, £300 needs to be claimed from Sony): http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/Products/Tel ... Y/KD55A1BU

Or £2,279: https://www.powerdirect.co.uk/index.php ... l?___SID=U

John Lewis have emailed me to say they have refunded me the £100 so the final price for me was £699 which is pretty amazing for this TV :D :D :D .

Ended up getting the LG 49sj810 from currys, christening it now with UHD Blue Planet 2. Jaw dropping. I remember Planet Earth being the first thing I watched on my first HD TV.

If possible try to watch planet earth 2 on UHD bluray. The iPlayer stream looks great but it's still not a patch on the less so pressed blurays.

I'm getting Blue Planet 2 as I already have Planet Earth 2 on blue ray.

Bought the XE94. Cost me £3800 with a 5 year Sony Warranty.

Bloody hell I really hope you enjoy it for that sort of money.

Can anyone recommend a decent UHD blu ray player?

How much are you looking to spend? At around the £300 mark the Samsung M9500 and the Panasonic UB400 are pretty well regarded. Of course there's always an Xbox One X. ;-)

Actually that Panny is available for sub-£200 now, that'd definitely be my pick at that price.

Mine is pretty good, I got it free though so I didn't research it at all.

Glad you like it. :) My 800 is arriving on Saturday, I'm very excited.

Sadly, I don't have anything 4k to go on it yet :shifty:

Does anyone know if the High Seas are any good for 4k stuff, or are the file sizes too unwieldy?

There is some HDR/4K content on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Blue Planet 2 in UHD is available on the iPlayer.

Sadly I have terrible broadband - we're not due fibre for another four months or so. I suspect Netflix would laugh at me if I tried to stream 4k.

There's strawberry float all 4K content worth watching on Netflix or Amazon at the moment.

I've not really watched much on my new TV as I've now had two arrive with stuck or dead pixels which for some reason have only manifested themselves after a day or two, not very impressed with the LG B7 (in reliability terms) so it's getting swapped for a Sony XE93.

I was in Argos today returning something and I saw that they had 50" Samsung 4K TVs going for £500 - I'm sure it's probably not the bleeding edge of TVs that are available but I was surprised at how cheap that was, I guess by the time I eventually get one it won't cost me an arm and a leg.

I'm giving my 42' Panny Plasma to my friend. It's eight years old but it's still pretty damn fine.

I'm still rocking my Panny plasma too, it doesn't even output in 1080P. :fp:
