I have a LG C2 55" and it is the best TV I've had I think.

Brilliant. C3 or G3 is the newer model.

I wonder what happened to the fancy see through TVs they showed a few years ago?

There was a power cut and they couldn't find them again.

Ended up ordering the 65" C3 from John Lewis as they put it on sale today for £1899 couldn't justify another £750 on the G3 + Stand.

Should be arriving on Wednesday morning, cannot wait!

I’m looking to get my first tv after a seriously long time, the choices, tech etc are just overwhelming.

I don’t want to spend a huge amount. My budget is £1000 - £1500 and i’m currently out in Vietnam so things often costs alot more (PS5 just was £550)

I love the LG C3 i’ve seen but it’s close to £2000.

And so i was wondering if since i haven’t owned an OLED before, whether an LG C2 or G2 will be good enough or even going further back to an LG C1.

It’ll mostly be for netflix and gaming. So i’m looking for a 65” tv or more if within budget?

Any suggestions or advice?

Don't be afraid to look at previous models.

I recently bought the 2021 LG C1 for a large discount and it's bloody amazing.
It's more than good enough for the PS5 and XSX and stuff like Foundation looks spectacular.

I suppose it's the sort of thing that will look great at CES but never actually get into production.
Kind of like all the Eink displays that have been shown for a decade now that roll up into a scroll.

I always like the pointless gooseberry fool they put on washing mashines and stuff so they have something new to show.

C3 arrived yesterday, got it setup at lunch then gave it a test run in the evening. The difference between this and the old TV is night and day, it's a stunning TV and the picture quality is fantastic.

Now considering a sound bar but might wait until the January sales.....

I got lucky, i think. Went to a show room and they had an LG C3 “65 for £1400 and they also threw in an LG soundbar and sub with it. So i just went ahead and brought it.

Excited. But curious about settings and calibration, any recommendations of guides as i’ve heard it needs playing with.

Will be using my PS5 on it. Wondering if things need to be played with settings wise on that as well?

TVs nowadays are pretty close to perfect out of the box. Just make sure any AI type 'correction' features are off. Noise Reduction, Sharpness Enhancement, Motion Smoothing. Stuff like that might as well be labelled 'please make my TV look gooseberry fool'.

There are great set-up guides by the TV reviewer guy on HDTV test.
They're so simple even I could follow them and you get much better picture than the out of the box result.

He also does calibration stuff for the best hdr on ps5 and xsx.

If you're just looking to stream them, then:

Titanic - Disney+
Aliens - Apple TV
The Abyss - Not available
True Lies - Disney+

I'd think that the 4K stream versions would be available around time that the 4k disc versions are available:

Titanic 4k disc launches 18 December.
Aliens 4k disc launch date awaited. Up for pre-order at Amazon, though.
The Abyss 4k disc not announced (and still not had a blu-ray release).
True Lies 4k disc launch date awaited. Up for pre-order at Amazon, though.

It seems like digital 4K for Titanic and Aliens is already available in the US now. Hopefully soon for us.

So if you want this title in 4K and you live in the UK, you’ll have to import it from elsewhere.'

That scene gets shown on TV every time it's on though.
