I know I'm biased, but our new one is strawberry floating stunning. It's so understated and crisp :datass:

Can anyone recommend a decent soundbar/better alternative? Ideally don't want to spend more than £100-£200

Bought the LG OLED today, comes next week.

In the end I decided possible burn in issues were worth the risk for the better picture quality. If its really bad I'll send the set back.

Add another TV to the great OLED pile (making I do believe every OLED on the market worth buying): the Philips 55POS9002, which is reviewing very well.

No Dolby Vision or HDR10+ support though, and it's also using the dreaded Android TV.

Input lag measures at 39ms for gaming, basically the same as the Sony A1 but higher than LG.

Also comes with Ambilight (bias lighting; changes the background colour of the wall to match the scene).

Can be picked up for under £2000.

So I'm interested in a 4K HDR Tv 49-50" smart TV at least 3-4 HDMI for gaming and films. What can I get for about £700?

Not price checked, but as a rough guide:

Samsung MU6470UXX 49" (£579 at Currys)
Samsung UE50MU6120 50" (£599 at Currys)
Samsung UE49MU6400 49" (£599 at Currys); Rtings.com: 7.3/10
Samsung UE55MU6400 55" (£729 at Currys); Rtings.com: 7.3/10
Samsung UE49MU7070 49" with free 4K Blu Ray player (£849 at Currys); Rtings.com 7.7/10
Sony Bravia XE70 49" (£579 at Argos)
Sony Bravia XE80 49" (£628 at Appliances Direct); Rtings.com: 7.2/10
Sony Bravia XE83 49" (£849 at Curry's)

These prices will drop heading into Black Friday; Samsung's product codes tend to differ, though it'll be the same TV. They like to release exclusive models for various stores, but these are usually just cosmetic alterations (done I believe to make it more difficult to compare pricing)

How weird I was about to post about advice on tvs. I'm looking to spend £600 to £700 on a 55 inch. I've identified the Samsung UE55MU6400 or Samsung UE55MU6470. I have a £50 off Samsung TV voucher at Currys and the Samsung UE55MU6470 is £699 in Currys at the moment so it will be £649 with the voucher. I'm trying to gauge whether this would be cheaper in the black Friday sales.

The Samsung UE55MU6470 seems to only have one difference from the Samsung UE55MU6400 with a super uhd dimming feature that's available in their more expensive tvs.

The 49MU7000 model is £799 at John Lewis with the free 4K BluRay player...

https://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue49m ... d/p3194310

Though the bundle doesn't seem to be available online and the deal is only till tomorrow.

I expect that TV will be cheaper within the month. Another good thing about John Lewis though, is that if the price goes down within 28 days you can claim the difference back and get it for the lower price.

Average (roughly the same as my TV from last year), but it's one of the worst performers on test for 2017. Other TVs from LG, Samsung and Sony all have it beat.

The LG C7 and E7 OLED range is around about 21.2ms.

I personally can't tell any difference, but I'm not playing competitively online.

My console gaming is generally single player besides Destiny, and I'm far from competitive on that.
I want an OLED, but I really dislike LG products after having nothing but bad experiences with them, whilst I've never had any issues with Sony stuff. Samsung seem to have no intention of going with OLED, intent on pushing their QLED stuff instead.

That's a great TV, we have a couple of those and they're excellent at that size, really lovely picture.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

The Sony A1 and LG C7 and E7 TVs share the same panel (made by LG), so picture quality is almost identical.

The only really difference between the two, aside from input lag, is that the sound emanates from the screen on the Sony, and it also tilts backwards slightly. If you want a separate soundbar however the TV has to be wall mounted because there's no stand to lift it up off the table.

Price wise there is and there isn't a difference. Both the E7 and A1 retail for roughly £3,999. However the cheaper LG C7 (65" is £2,699) is almost the same television, but sans the sound bar and with a less asthetically pleasing design. Under that is the B7 (which currently appears to be priced up the same as the C7) which again offers the same picture quality but they've cheapened the design further and removed Dolby Atmos support on the in-built speakers.

They're absolutely the 4 best TVs of 2017 in terms of overall picture, but there are just too many niggles this year that would bug me on the top 2 due to the price. The longevity and brightness of the screen, the risk of image retention, and the Android TV software being extremely buggy on anything from Sony. Price is all relative to the individual, but at £4000 you shouldn't have to put up with stupid software issues.

The sound screen stuff doesn't really matter to me as I've got a 5.1 system in the living room where it's going, so my PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch and Sky Q box are all going through that, and it supports ARC so 4K Netflix on the TV app would just output sound back through the system anyway. I was planning on wall mounting it as well so the tilt/lack of stand doesn't really make a difference one way or the other.

From looking at them the Sony one is definitely the better looking of them if you ask me, and having seen it in Currys the picture quality seemed absolutely stunning.
On the one hand it makes me wonder if I should wait for the 2018 models, but on the other hand you could say that every single year and end up never actually getting a new TV because something better is always going to be on the horizon.

I believe that's only on the US models. Literally the only difference between the B7 and C7 here is the stand and the surround. Personally I didn't think the C7 looked better and its exclusive to Currys/PC World in the UK.

The Panasonic OLED is supposed to be good too and there's now a Phillips one too (though I don't think I'd go with that), 65" version isn't out till January I think.

What i find odd is the lack of old stock tvs. I would gladly buy a higher spec tv 2015 or 2016 tv but they seem to be hard to find. Do manufacturers recall most unsold stock when they launch the new models? It seems to be the only explanation. There are a small number of sites out there that seem to stock ex stock but it accounts for a very small amount of tv, mostly ones that have been returned to stores and can't be resold, either damaged packaging or scratches.
