Anyone with a 4k hdr set and Netflix, I highly recccomend 'Altered Carbon, very blade runner but strawberry float me the picture is just stunning. Far and away the best picture clarity I've seen on Netflix, hard to believe it's streamed really and the future setting makes the HDR effect look incredible. Really impressive stuff.

Ironhide wrote:UHD seems a fairly mixed bag picture wise, some stuff looks bloody amazing (Blue Planet II) whereas other stuff just looks like a slightly clearer 1080p image but otherwise not mind blowing.

Having said that however I have only watched a few things in 4K as I got the TV a while before I had any 4K content to watch on it

Blue Planet II - stunning
The Grand Tour (Amazon streaming) - looks slightly better than 1080p but takes strawberry floating ages for 4K to kick in
The Martian - Martian landscape looks really good but again not a massive step up from 1080p
Kingsman - CGI sticks out like a sore thumb, looks alright elsewhere.

Not really missing the LG OLED image wise as the black levels on the Sony set are decent, I do however uttterly loathe the Android OS and Youview is total wank.

You'll probably notice bigger differences if your TV is really big. You won't notice a big difference with a smallish TV (less than 47"?).

I splashed out over Christmas on a Sony XE90 65 inch.

I love it so much! I actually preferred the image all told to the OLEDs in the shop, personally. Though they had the better blacks, the clarity and 'solidity' I preferred on the Sony. I basically told the LG girl in the store that I'd buy her TV if she could convince me it looked better than the Sony demo model. She couldn't :(

Either way love the telly. I don't even have a PS4 Pro or similar but the 4K on Youtube/Netflix looks fab and the upscaling on my Switch (!) looks lovely, plus the screen is big enough to bathe in.

I think I actually like the voice control most of all! (Or it's good anyway)

The only problem with the TV is a slight inbuilt audio delay (as opposed to the usual audio advance which can be manually delayed to suit) inherent to the TV/TV Apps. I actually went into John Lewis and Richer Sounds and did an annoying (to them?) amount of testing using Netflix Test Cards and Youtube Audio Sync videos. Once I was convinced that actually most of the 4Ks had the same issue I relaxed into enjoying my TV more, knowing that it was not uniquely flawed. I think it's been built in to compensate for the historic audio advance, even though visual processing is improved now.

A little annoying but running stuff straight to the sound system bypasses the issue anyhow, and most people not as video-audio pernickety as me don't even notice.

I agree, there's quite a bit of 4k stuff on Netflix (all the recent Netflix made stuff is) but look for the Dolby vision ones for the really good picture. I've got fingers crossed that Mute will be Dolby Vision, that could be something very special.

Watched batman begins last night. Very dissapointing picture quality, only a handful of shots looked the business, the rest of it looked like an oversaturated bluray. Blurry in parts, orange faces a lot of the time. If I'd not watched perfect stuff like planet earth 2 before, I'd have though the tv was playing up. Really poor :|

I've read other opinions saying BB is meh but the other two are stunning so I'm looking forward to them :datass:

The other two are better.

Put me down as another fan of the Dolby vision stuff on Netflix. Looks fantastic.

The Sky Q stuff is also good.

I justified an Xbox One X for UHD Blu Rays but I just cant justify £25 a film.

Blade runner is stunning. Visually and sonically. The sound design is astonishing.

Got a Samsung MU6400 40" on the way  Was super confusing to research as it's the MU7000 in the states...the general consensus seemed to be it was the best budget choice for that size.

Anyone have experience with using a PC on 4k TV? I've read something about making sure the Windows 10 zoom is set at 100% so that games will definitely render in 4k, though that'll mean tiny text and such.

Also I've been using DSR resolutions on my 1080p monitor and TV, am I right in saying I need to set seperate custom resolutions between 1080 and 4k for games that can't hit 4k60fps?

Reading this makes me think my TV is getting old.

I have a 1080p Freeview HD 32" Samsung with 3D, got it back in 2012 and it's the best TV i've ever had.

Have any of you compared an HD stream to a UHD Blu Ray? I feel like I should be buying UHD Blu Rays as I have all the kit but I've fully embrassed the digital only lifestyle.

I don't like streaming in that context, for a start my internet probably isn't fast enough to run it at a decent resolution and besides, i prefer to have the physical disc anyways.

That's why this morning, i picked up Thor: Ragnarok on blu ray.

Not a.direct comparison, but imo there's no substitute for the uhd bluray. Was watching some more planet earth 2 (The jungles episode) and it was strawberry floating he dropping

I think the next gen consoles are really going to make the best use of everyone's new 4K HDR TV's.
Assassins Creed Origins on One X looked amazing to me so another bump will be something really special.
