My Sony from 2016 was the last of their models to feature 3D. Haven’t used it though because it didn’t come with the glasses, and I don’t think the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X Blu Ray drives support it?

BBC dumped it, and Sky also gave up (only archive material on-demand) a number of years ago.

But my 3D blurays... :cry:

My Panasonic from last year also has 3D but I’ve bever used it. I think their 2017 models were the last ones that supported 3D, 4K and HDR (not together)

A friend suggested keeping an eye on it for Amazon's Black Friday deals

It’s the 55 version of mine. The picture quality is stunning.

Keep an eye on that. They came down a good bit on Black Friday and then xmas last year.

Picked up a 55" Samsung 4KTV HDR TV yesterday in black friday sale for €580, reduce from €1100. I'm VERY happy with it, compliments my X1X wonderfully.

How do HD movies stack up on 4K TV's? I don't really want to have to upgrade to Sky Q just yet.

They don't look better, but at least you don't have that blurry effect that DVDs suffered when being scaled up to HD TV.

Netflix and Amazon have a growing library of 4K content, Stranger Things, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and House of Cards are worth checking out.

NowTV, unfortunately, still outputs at 720p and doesn't look great on a large TV.

I’ve upgraded to Netflix 4K via my X1X and we watched Planet Earth II. It looks insane.

Yeah that was basically the tech demo we had running whenever people visited the house for a while.

You'll notice a further improvement when playing Ultra HD Blu-ray's though, and it's worth reading reviews of each movie before buying as picture quality does vary between titles, regardless of age.

Saw the 8K Samsung in John Lewis over the weekend. Looks incredible, as you'd expect. A glimpse into the future...

I can see it gaining traction around the time of the 2022 World Cup, particularly as it collides with the buying/sale season.

They look amazing but, due to TV size constraints in the UK it's a future most of us won't join. VR should aim for 8K though.

I believe the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be recorded in 8K and broadcast where available.

I seen an 8K TV at house exhibition a couple of weeks ago and it was mental. It wasn't as expensive as I though it would me, about €4000

I noticed it has an abysmal D energy rating though. The equivalent of buying a printer and thinking 'ooooh, that's cheap' and then getting shafted by the cost of ink 6 months later.

Comes in 65" & 75", though the Samsung rep said there is a 55" 8K TV on the way.

To me, there's a clear difference between movies that are mastered in 2K and scaled to 4K for their 4K distributions and movies that are mastered in 4K and for the 4k distributions.

There are lots of websites that'll tell you if it's mastered in 2K or 4K. I'd save yourself £10 and just go for the standard Blu-ray if it's not mastered in 4K.

When you get a 4K master along side HDR it's clearly better but nothing on the jump from VHS to DVD or from DVD to 1080P Blu-Ray.

Of the 4K films I've watched so far, I'd have to say Murder on the Orient Express has been far and way the best visually.

Sky Cinema via SkyQ isn't as good as a 4K Blu Ray or Apple TV (Sky has no HDR last time I checked), though obviously if you watch a lot of movies every month it is the cheapest and most current 4K option available.

What I do though is buy the discs from HMV and Amazon (normally 2 for £30) and sell them on eBay. It's costing me around £3-£4 a film that way.

I have a pretty large collection of Blu-rays but I think only 3 or 4 were bought new, most were from CEX.

I've stopped buying altogether now but will start buying more once the pre-owned 4K market is more mainstream.

Fantastic Black Friday deals on Lg Oled.

I paid 2500 for mine in January.
This year’s model which has an improved processor is now 1300 for the 55” model and 2000 for the 65” one at Currys.

That’s an incredible bargain when you look at the quality of TV you are getting.
