Amazon don't seem to stock the KS7000 themselves so I don't see there being many Black Friday deals on it. I think more brick and mortar retailers are going to move away from "Black Friday" as its a stupid model to want to imitate.

It wasn't, no. The glue between the panel and back casing had started to seperate on both. I don't know if other people have had a similar problem. The TV itself still worked though.

Currys have knocked £100 off various TVs this weekend (including the Sony 55xd93 I purchased). Now it makes sense why the Sony bloke at JC was so happy to knock another £100 off as he probably knew...

Does anyone have the Samsung KS7000 49 inch on here? I'm trying to see if I need to buy a new TV stand for it, but I can't find anywhere online that lists how far apart the feet are. If someone could measure it you'll save me taking a tape measure into Currys tomorrow.

Looking at:

Samsung 50" KU6020 @ £449
Samsung 49" KU6470 @ £599

From what I understand the differences are:

Freesat HD
1300Hz vs 1500Hz
Voice interaction
Premium remote vs normal remote
WiFi & Bluetooth vs just Wifi

The instore poster suggests they've got the same contrast level. And I can only imagine 1500Hz is the only thing which actually improves the picture quality and even then, how visible is it when no sports or video games will be used.

The other option is:

Samsung 43" curved KU6670 @ £599

Which is 1600Hz and apparently has better contrast than the other two.

However...curved screens. And probably 15 feet away from the TV so maybe 4k is pointless on a screen of that size and viewing distance?

So my 32" Toshiba that I've had for about 8 or so years has just given up the ghost. I'm looking at replacing it with something of a similar sort of size (no bigger that 40") without breaking the bank. I'm a bit out of touch with what's good TV-wise nowadays - does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not that fussed about having "the latest model", just something reliable.

Did you get any of these, I'm looking at the Samsung 50" KU6020.

I bought an LG 49UF620v and whilst the HD picture on it is brilliant, SD shows are awful. They seem to be lacking massively in colour and are blurry. I've tried playing around with the settings but I just can't get the balance right.

A question for anyone I take it the bigger the tv generally the worse SD pictures will always look, or will some TVs cope better than others?

Ended up with the Samsung 49" KU6500. The 6020 is out of stock in the 50" screen till the 15th December.

It's a nice TV and the curve is something I've got used to and don't mind but I still an not sure if it's a gimmick or not. The 4K Netflix obviously doesn't look as good as the 4k blu rays in the stores, the Pirate 1080p and 720p content looks good as does the HD channels but SD will always look gooseberry fool for two reasons, it's a low resolution on a huge screen and it's upscaling from 400,000 pixels to 8,250,000 pixels. Content always looks best at the native resolution. Any amount of upscaling will always make the image softer. The blurryness can't be fixed.

Cinema mode and turning off the auto smooth engine or whatever its called gives a far nicer, more natural and accurate looking image than standard, natural or the god awful dynamic mode. Dynamic.

One good thing about HDR and Game modes is that you shouldn't have to fiddle with anything. I was happy with both on the XD93 right out of the box. Sky however needed a number of adjustments.

Android hasn't crashed once on me yet. The only complaint I've found thus far is the completely bust satellite mode. The picture is actually better than on Sky, and you get access to a lot more free-to-air channels from across Europe, but Sony's EPG doesn't work - the TV guide doesn't populate beyond Now and Next and only when you've viewed the channel itself. This makes the in-built DVR functions obsolete because if the TV doesn't know when to start and stop the recording it's useless. I contacted Sony and the guy on the phone was basically 'yeah, we know....it's why we only advertise the YouView in the UK' Well, I dunno, have you thought of strawberry floating fixing it?! Would have been a wonderful replacement for Sky+...

For those with a compatible 4K HDR TV, Planet Earth II is currently available on BBC iPlayer in a brand new "UHD HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma)" format...well, 4 minutes of it anyway. It's got a 10-bit colour range & a peak brightness of 4,000 nits (so much better than your current HDR TV). It's available until January, with a full launch of BBC iPlayer 4K happening later in the year.

I was reading about that. Apparently HDR10 isn't suitable for live broadcast so they worked with their Hong Kong counter part to make an alternative. I think it's been announced that sky and others will be using it and it just requires a firmware update so sets with HDR10 won't be obsolete before anyone even buys them.

Only confirmed for the US but UHD is region free so should play on an Xbox One S.

Been having a look at the Samsung KS8000 series as they seem to be about the best for HDR gaming at the moment in terms of input lag, but even in the sales going to cost about £1,900 for the 65", plus I'd probably need it wall mounting as my current stand is only for up to 55" really.
Think I'll wait a bit longer. Got a 4K Sony at the moment, but I don't think it's HDR, about 3 years old now.

Will see what 2017 brings, maybe some better sets or reductions on price on the current sets, and see if I get an end of year bonus in July/August.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do 1080p consoles look on a 4K TV? Is it as jarring as 240p on 1080p was?

I can't speak for all 4k TVs but our Samsung HU8500 does a great picture from a 1080p source. If you have a decent brand I'd imagine it would be fine.

It should be just as good, if not better. With a top 1080p source it looks almost like 4K.

I am looking for a new 4K TV soon and which one is good for all-round user like PS4 Pro, films and TV.

I always like the Panasonic ones, so any recommendation would be welcome.

Is this one any good?
