Sorry I didn’t see your subsequent post on the MU7000. Seems like the price you found is pretty good. Try getting Richer Sounds to price beat the BT Shop, though (£789). They’ll knock a tenner from the competitors price.

If you get an MU7000 do let us know what it’s like. I was seriously considering one previously and am still interested in how it performs.

The TV is now cheaper than some LCD screens.

I really want the Panasonic EZ952, but I can't justify £400 over the price of the LG. I'll stick it out for now.

The price difference on the Sony A1 and LG B7 is a shocker now: £1,650!

To put this into perspective, you could pick up Sony's best 55'' LCD for 2017 (X940E or X93; both have pluses and minuses) or the LG, and Sony's Dolby Atmos HT-ST5000 soundbar for the same price as the OLED A1. What you trade off in picture quality with an LCD you make up for in terms of far, far superior sound. Or you could go with the LG TV and have the best of everything!

Just impossible to recommend the A1 from a value perspective now.

The A1 is absolutely ludicrously priced. It's a shame because it's a lovely bit of kit, probably the only other TV that I'd consider.

That LG B7 is a ridiculous bargain, I've got my mouse cursor hovering over the buy button.

It's a shame the code doesn't work on the C7, it's a much nicer looking set imo.

Ordered it last night so will let you know what it's like when it arrives but it's 3-5 working days for delivery.

The Sony A1 55'' has now been reduced at Curry's and John Lewis to £2,799, plus another £300 cashback from Sony. Looks like the lowest this one will likely go before being cleared from sale is £1,999.

I was looking at the 65 inch A1 but a combination of the burn in issues and paying for the sound screen technology that I won't be using have made me put off to see what next years OLEDs are like.

It's going to be interesting to see if the TV manufacturers make any adjustments for 2018 sets now that both mid gen console upgrades.
CES 2018 in January should give all the info.
I'm assuming the main upgrades will be to HDR abilities and the adoption of Dolby Atmos.

I'll be interested to see how increased OLED competition affects things now that LG don't have the market to themselves anymore.

At the current prices I suspect LG won't have an awful lot of competition.

It would be nice if you had the option of buying a TV with no sound included, therefore reducing the price. At the moment there seems to be three options: you get really crappy speakers, you get a decent soundbar attached (LG), or you pay a huge premium (Sony) for sound ultimately still not as good as a fully fledged soundbar/system.

I think it's an incredible technical achievements, and I've heard it in John Lewis, but I just can't understand the point of it. Sony made this mistake a few years ago when they stuck massive speakers on the side of their 4K TVs, and then removed them when I guess they realised customers didn't appreciate the unnecessary added length.

You'd think with Soundbars and In-home sound systems taking off manufacturers would be all over something like this. It would give them the ability to make TVs even thinner and lighter which a lot of buyers would probably go for.

The soundbar/speakers should be embedded in to the stand. You could then buy with or without, or a wall mount friendly version.

It's just another instance of LG getting things right this year. The more expensive E7 model is basically almost exactly the same set as the B7 or C7 but with an integrated sound bar. I suspect that the sales of the latter will confirm that most people don't want an integrated sound bar.

They’re probably not trying to compete with the B7 market anyway. It’s the lower end and they’re buying LG panels, so probably want a larger margin. They’re targeting people with money to burn on a fancier set. The A1 looks like a concept TV that somehow made it to market. It also has the best image processing of all the OLEDs on the market.
