I got that sound bar, looks really high end, sounds very nice and that. Bought the last Jedi 4k bluray to watch tonight, so it should be a treat.

I tell you what, the setup was a strawberry floating joke though. This thing is the top of the range soundbar they do, and it's specifically for the model of tv I have, so you'd think it'd be a piece of piss to get going right? Noooo. Hdmi arc port to port, turn it on, done, is what the manual claimed. Was it strawberry float. Took about 2 solid hours to get it to talk to the tv properly, including multiple plugs out of sockets for both tv, oneconnect box and soundbar. At one point after it had been working a while, it just stopped outputting any sound at all. Unplug all AGAIN. If you had cables routed through the wall for these things you'd be strawberry floated.

'Premium' products

Sounds strawberry floating great through :datass: I hope the neighbours like star wars

I'm still undecided about 4K/HDR. Maybe it's because I have a 2012 Sony flag ship that does brilliant 1080p and I only opted for a mid range 4K this time round.

It's not that it's actively bad, I'm just not sure it's worth £10 extra everytime I buy a movie.

Does anyone have an experience with the different levels of HDR? Is it noticbly worse on mid-rangers compared to flagship?

To be honest I only really notice HDR in games where it's utilised well.
Assassins Creed Origins looked amazing on One X on my new telly and Shadow of the Tomb Raider is really looking nice but I can't say I've really watched a film with it and it had any impact at all so it's a mixed bag for me :| .

Where I am renting has no TV so I need a new TV.
I did consider 32in but its just too small. So going for a 40-43 in now, but not sure if to get a Sony HDR 1080p one for £399 or an Samsung 4K HDR for £399 or an LG 40in 4K HDR for £369

Its ok I think I am set on the Samsung as amazon have it at £360
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-UE40NU ... op?ie=UTF8

Shame it doesn't look as nice as the Sony one but Sony is only 1080p.

I'd suggest a 4K set purely because it will be the main display option for the next gen consoles and eventually TV.

I would go I to the store and see them side by side if you can. Just to make sure you're happy before you buy.

40-42" 4k is pretty pointless imo

So they're doing 8K now...ohhh the prices. Crazy, would anyone pay that for a telly?

I play PC games at 4K on a 27" monitor and the other day set a game I was playing back to 1080p and immediately noticed the difference.

To me it's far more obvious that the difference between 720p and 1080p.

I highly doubt there'll be much more than a handful of films available in 8K in the next 5 years or so and I don't see the next gen refreshes doing any games in 8K as they will still be maxing out 4K so I really fail to see the point in buying 8K now.
I think 4K will be the main focus for the next decade or so with the main focus being on better HDR implementation especially in the UK as 4K is fine for TV's of up to 80 inch and anything above that would just look bloody silly in an average UK house.

I don’t know why you’d buy an 8K TV now even if you had the money. There’s nothing to watch and it’s going to probably make current content look varying degrees of worse. And as early 4K adopters found out, a lot of tech was missing (the right HDMI standard, HDR, OLED).

I can't see a massive difference between 1080p and 4K to be perfectly honest.

Looks a little sharper but nothing like the leap from DVD to 1080p Bluray.

I also hardly notice HDR.

If you do have a spare 5 grand lying around, Samsung’s 8K TV is up for order from Curry’s: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-ho ... 2-pdt.html

Can any PC's today (aside from the ridiculously expensive set-ups on Linus tech tips) do 8K gaming as that's going to be pretty much the only content available.

Anyone having issues playing Amazon Prime videos in 4K on Sony Android TV?

4K plays fine on Netflix and Planet Earth looks stunning, but no 4K content appears on Amazon Prime and the shows/movies that, according to various websites, should be 4K only play in HD.

4K content that you pay for individually is hidden away in a completely separate section within the app. I found it simply by scrolling down on the Home screen until you finally get to it.

4K programming that is provided as part of your Prime subscription (such as The Grand Tour) will be marked as 4K HDR and will play automatically dependant on your broadband connection.

Hmm, Grand Tour only played in HD for me, it's certainly confined to Amazon as 4K works fine on YouTube and Google Play (my free Blade Runner 2049 looks incredible).

Quite happy with the Android TV setup, not upgraded to Android P yet so I still get that annoying Featured Apps section (turn it off to hide crap like Disney Life and you also lose BBC iPlayer for some reason).

I do prefer how it makes the smart system and apps front and centre with Freeview relegated to the back along with HDMI, the complete opposite to Samsung's Tizen system, it certainly feels more futuristic.

As the neighbours were away this weekend, we finally got to crank the soundbar up for a good war film.

Hooooly strawberry floating gooseberry fool it sounds incredible. Not an exaggeration to say it's superior to the cineworld cinema we went to on saturday. The room sounded like a war zone :datass:

It's been the same on my LG TV for some time. Stuff that should 100% be available in 4k just isn't there.

I've tried raising it with them, but I get too annoyed at the 'is your tv compatible, is your connection fast enough, have you got the latest version of the app' basic noob questions.

I've tried reinstalling the app, too, but nothing.

I did buy Spider Man Homecoming in 4K through Amazon and that seems to play just fine, haven't tried anything else though on Prime though.
