They took another 500 off mine in January as well. It is worth waiting.

I was just so excited.

It’s still stunning as well. Best thing I’ve ever bought.

Better than that evening with Oral Olga on Prague? I think not.

Great prices for that kind of tv. I also paid £2500 for mine, only for it to drop in price by £500 2 months later :x

Basically there's no good time to buy anything like that, just know whay your budget is and how far you are willing to stretch.

This year’s model which has an improved processor is now 1300 for the 55” model and 2000 for the 65” one at Currys.

That’s an incredible bargain when you look at the quality of TV you are getting.

Assuming the screen doesn't go tits up after a few days of use.

LG 55UK6400PLF LED HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 55" with Freeview Play/Freesat HD

Any good? I'm hilariously out of the loop with what's good or not these days.

I'm also hugely out of the loop — but surely you can't get a decent 4k set for £449?

I'm sure when I bought my set, if you wanted relatively cheap LG then you need the 55SJ sets as the screen is better. Might be wrong though.

None of the major brands make a particularly bad TV these days, but compared to Samsung and Sony, LG tend to offer the weakest LED sets. Not sure about Panasonic these days outside of the top end.

If you’ve saved £500 it’s worth getting it up to £700 for a good TV.

Everyone has different preferences so the best way to tell if a TV is for you or not is to go to a shop and watch it.

For example I hate pretty much all of Samsung's video enhancement options but some people like them. These people are obvious cognitive deficient but that shouldn't take away from personal taste and preference.

Watch it along side other more expensive sets as well so you can decide of the extra money is worth it.

If you've already got a 1080p set you're happy with it might also be worth saving your money and sticking with that. If you don't it might even be worth looking at getting a better 1080p set. 4K is good enough but not a must have.

4K TV get 8-)

Went with a 50" LG as the 55" would have just been too big for the corner of the room that the TV sits in, sadly. But I'm happy with the purchase. Got a new LG soundbar as well to replace the archaic one that my daughter had pushed on the floor a fair few times, at least this new one is lower profile and non-slip. All in for £510, not too bad I think. Obviously I'd have loved to have spent more on both but you have to cut your cloth accordingly.

Plus I need to keep some dollar back for the PS4 Pro :shifty: :shifty:

Sonos Beam is currently £50 off, (£350) and quidco are doing some cashback deals for most of the big electronics retailers. Anyone here got one? I've had my eye on it for a while, and wasn't expecting Sonos to do any Black Friday deals.

So after looking at some comparisons between the Sony and the LG I'm starting to come around to the LG sets, as they seem to be better for gaming whilst the Sony's real advantage is being better for Sport, which I couldn't give a gooseberry fool about.

But what's the difference between the LG B8 and LG C8? There's a £400 price difference and I can't find any actual technical difference between them.

C8 to W8 all use LG's new custom-built Alpha 9 picture processor, while the B8 sets have a new version of LG's Alpha 7 processor from 2017.

I wish the Lord of the Rings trilogy was on UHD. I was watching Fellowship of the Ring last night which is HD and it doesn't scale up particularly well to 4K. Maybe my Xbox One X is spoiling me in this regard.
