Well there's an idea! I'm visiting Portsmouth, London, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Eastbourne, Southampton and Reading in the next three months, and UK Regionals in Sheffield in June. I'm not opposed to travelling!! :D

I'll come and cheer you along in Reading apart from the only thing I remember about pokemon TCG is energy cards and I had an arbok with a spelling mistake on it

That is my contribution to this pokemon TCG thread

all jokes aside I'm a bit tunnel vision at tournaments, you need to get into a particular headspace to pilot a deck to good finishes which means I'm not the most social animal at them :shifty:

Wow, you really get around for all those tournaments, huh? My local's Cardiff. I remember the Professor at Firestorm mentioning larger tournaments last year, so I guess they're hosting there. Cool. I don't know when the tournament is or if I'll have found myself some courage by then, but if so I could maybe go to get my butt kicked.

The itch needs scratched!!! The cup is on Easter saturday I believe, I’ll be going early on Friday and staying overnight near the city (I’m in Southampton currently, so a 2.5h drive in the morning doesn’t lead to strong play). It’s a big one which attracts a higher caliber of player so I might get my butt kicked too lol

One of my mates is into the TCG card game, don't think he's attended any tournaments of any size though but I could be wrong on that one. He pestered me to get some cards so I bought myself a Decidueye starter deck, cracked it open and had a little look, from the look of it I'd guess it's better to learn while playing kind of thing?

Not touched it since though which probably tells you all you need to know, I'll just stick to the Pokémon games thanks :D

Please excuse my ranting.

I moved into my flat 8 months ago with my daughter, and today was the day I thought I'd finally get around to stripping the wallpaper in my bedroom. It all seemed to be going well until I found a hole. A square one, about the size of a single plug socket, plugged up with toilet paper.

8 months ago I also met the old goat who lives downstairs. He apparently did a lot of work around this council flat I'm in for the old lady who used to live here. Because of his handiwork I've had to have a whole new water system installed. I also had to have the place completely rewired before I was allowed to get the keys.

I bet this is his handiwork. Who else would fill in a wall socket with loo roll?

That's pretty awful, but at least you've got a funny anecdote out of it?

Well that's still a while away so I guess that would give me some time to get some deck experence and work up some courage but I'm not sure I'd have the guts to go to such a big tournament right off the bat. I don't even know the state of the meta anymore and playing a low-tier deck and asking to read cards at a big tournament might be kind of embarrasing. But, I don't know, I guess I'll see how I feel closer to the time. Either way, I hope you do well!

The online version of the TCG is pretty good and it's great for learning how to play. If you're ever interested in learning, I'd recommend that.

Online TCG is horribly grindy and unintuitive for me. I only really got into it when I used the game coins to get a theme deck (gsnerally the newest one is the best one, ask me for advice before getting one) and grinding the ladder playing theme decks only against other people for prizes until I was able to scrounge together enough good stuff to play the game properly. >.>

Do you buy physical boosters? I found using the codes for pack trading gets rid of most of the grind. Otherwise, I guess you kind of have to grind some theme tournaments until you have enough tradable packs to get the cards you want. That can be fun but a little grindy, though, once you have one decent meta deck you don't need to stick to theme tournaments. I don't know, I only really found trying to finish the ladders grindy, so I never really bothered with those.

I got three more Bengals today! I stopped off on the way and there is a car park where you can park and look at the Humber bridge

Yeah but when you’re starting out it’s way more fun to open the boosters :P I do now understand the trading mini game and I’ve no problem getting most stuff I want (in the most basic rarity anyway!) but if you’re a casual player or someone who only buys single cards then it’s harder than it needs to be.

Maybe he meant the tigers and he is actually trading in endangered species?

The bastard.
