It's probably nothing but I just want to be sure in case the damn thing starts a fire :shifty:. I've been using this Dell charger pack I got with my laptop and I'm a little worried about the tempreture it gets to while charging my lappy's battery as it gets stupidly hot to the point where you could do ironing with it I reckon.

Is this normal?

They usually get pretty hot. If you think its excessive, keep it off the carpet or elevate it. Unplug it when you're not using it.

Dell chargers are pretty awful about heat but mines never set fire to anything had it sitting on my bed for nearly a year and it gets insanely hot

My old Toshiba charger used to get incredibly hot, too.

I suppose it is to be expected when rectifying 240V 50Hz AC to 12V DC.

Yea, its normal, but if you start having problems when it wont charge your laptop without unplugging it and resetting it, you'll find it might be overheating too much and needs to be kept turned off when not in use and off carpet etc others have said.

*230V (-6% to +10%)
