Basically, the arcade machines have come from different closed arcades like Trocadero, and some mini casinos in central London.

It opened this weekend and is in North Acton, for those interested.

Address:
10 Cullen Way, Acton, London, NW10 6JZ

Looking it up on Google Maps suggests that it's convieniently close to a cemetary. An ideal place to go for arcade to die.

Looks great, wish I lived close enough to use it.

All you folks nearby should support them though. God, I miss arcades.

Trocadero was the armpit of central London. After Segaworld closed (RIP in peace   ) it turned into a Chav breeding ground (probably literally) with hugely overpriced machines and dodgy as strawberry float pirate t-shirt shops.

Good strawberry floating riddance.

I met Dala for the first time there, so maybe I have nostalgia goggles but it wasn't that bad. It wasn't great, but it certainly had some cool machines.

That's not forgetting every arcade has really badly overpriced machines too.

Might go down and check it out, but seriously, Acton? :?

The problem with a lot of arcades is they're taken over by gambling machines. Namco on Upper Street used to be full of arcade machines, but it only had a couple last time I went (and Virtua Tennis was broken  ). Likewise the one on the corner near King's Cross, and the ones round Soho. You have to walk through a cesspit of broken hope to get to the actual games.

They should put the arcade games at the front and the gambling machines at the back. Gamblers will walk through the arcade machines to get to the fruit machines, gamers are less likely to, or can't due to their age.

Is the Namco on the Thames still there?

I once walked into an arcade full of slot machines and asked the owner where the games were. The question completely baffled him.

Who else but fighting game enthusiasts is going to regularly bother with arcades?! You might have decided to visit once in a blue moon, but I think the owners want more than that...

Is this the first if its kind in the uk? The console room makes me wish I still lived in London.

I used to go to arcades often to play Daytona and Dancing Stage Supernova. Some games need to be played in the arcades. I always saw arcades as a casual gaming experience that anyone can enjoy, I mean you can spend ages there but it is purely for enjoyment, no one takes the games seriously, I'd play Daytona and strawberry float up and get a game over but I wouldn't be annoyed by it or anything wheres at home losing is always worse for some reason. In other words arcades made for a niche audience of fighting game and shump enthusiasts won't last long if their customers aren't constantly using the place, at least arcades around here (on the coast), though completely lacking in stand up cabs still have stuff like Daytona, Sega Rally and House of the Dead to bring people in.

It's a really good arcade but I don't think a place like this can last in somewhere like the UK, it would last in Japan though, place is full of arcades like that. Also not to be picky but does the place not have Virtua Fighter and Tekken on the cabs?

Speaking of which someone needs to bring back Pinball tables, there are still a lot of fans of pinball and the fact the tables have died out is a incredible injustice, video pinball is fun but it isn't on the same level.
