Yeah today's patch has definitely felt like Arrowhead saying we've been having too much fun.

Seems weird to make it linearly more difficult with fewer players when it's nowhere near linear. Playing alone is significantly harder than playing in a squad given how time consuming things like reloading are. I get that it's very much meant to be played as part of a squad but having it be non-linearly easier running solo felt right.

Ho hum.

Not had a chance to play this for a bit, I look forward to all of the warbond rewards heading my way :datass:

I can't say I agree. It much easier to play stealthy solo

you can only stock 250 medals at a time so it pays to log in every now and then.

The new warbond has been announced and will be out next week.

I have enough points so will be picking it up.
I'm not that far from having enough for the warbond after that.
The amount of free points you can get so you don't have to pay for them is actually half decent.

I'm guessing that that's a Sony mandated thing; people get an account, get them into the PlayStation ecosystem, so they're more likely to buy from them.

Really shitty move from Sony, locking out people from over 90 countries who cannot create PSN accounts.

And just like that, last month’s game fad darling sticks a knife in its own heart by pissing off PC gamers, who retaliate with an absurdly disproportionate 200,000 negative Steam reviews. No winners here.

Sony and Arrowhead leadership knew for 6 months before the game's release that a PS account would be required, and they said nothing, and Sony still sold it in countries it knew would be cut off.

The tidalwave of negative reviews and refunds are warranted, that's a horrible bait and switch to pull.

The game has been delisted on Steam in 177 countries today, including mainland France.

PlayStation have absolutely strawberry floated this game. Their one GAAS success and they strawberry floated it.

Comparisons to signing up for an Xbox/MS accounts don’t wash because they were there day one.

Should have had this out when the backlash first begun, what a way to ruin a highly popular online game :fp:

Good to see that the situation has been sorted out; I'd suspect that most PC players would be happy with the outcome.

I wonder how future games on PC from Sony will roll now? It seems that the key issue was the need for a PlayStation account after a few months; this was obviously messy and presumably future games will have that requirement from launch. As Photek pointed out, this would be in line with Microsoft's approach to PC titles.

Edit: It's good to see people taking action when they feel there is a problem but I wonder if things went too far when some of the dev's other titles - such as the first Helldivers - were also getting review bombed on Steam?

I’m torn. It’s arguably their only tool to get their way. But I do cringe at how childish the community is. I mean, how much of a big deal was it really with all the other launchers. With a PS5 already, it was a non issue for me.

The backlash only began on Friday, didn’t it? This has been a remarkably quick turnaround.

A significant number of PC players are in countries where PSN isn't available, and were going to be locked out of the game, after having been able to buy and play it for the last month (with little indication they would be locked out). I think that's in the millions of players when you add up all the countries - including the likes of Japan, China, etc. So yeah, I think that it was a pretty big deal.

There's no PSN in Japan?

Incredibly shitty of Sony and the community were absolutely in the right to review bomb. Extremely scummy and anti-customer so of course people should complain about it and make the bullshit known to everyone. It has very quickly commanded a response from Sony.

In a world where people are questioning the ethics of digital "ownership", etc, I can't believe anyone would call out customers for complaining about such an obviously corrupt corporate practice.

I think it's excellent that the backlash has forced Sony to backtrack.

I'm certain I saw it in HD2's Steam delisted countries list, but I was scrolling along pretty quickly. It looks like I'm wrong on that one. But there are still a lot of countries that lack PSN access.

It's to do with Japan's localisation of the game.

From PCGamer:

Japan seems to be on the list as an outlier, with the game being replaced by a different version in the country, seemingly due to localization reasons.
