Buy as many many seeds as you can early doors and make as much money as possible in Spring, that'll help set you up for the following seasons. Also don't forget to dig up any wriggly worms that you see in the dirt, they'll give you either some clay or a lost book for the library. Also forage at the beach each day, can normally pick up a shell or oyster which can be sold for some coins. If you build the bridge at the beach (costs 300 wood) then you get access to the rock pools which normally contain 1-3 pieces of coral, which again can be sold.

I'm approaching the end of Spring now on Year 1 on my Switch, and have made about 4,000 coins, which I plan to invest in a large number of chilis which I'll grow through Summer. Should turn a tidy profit which I can then invest in some infrastructure for the following Spring.

Haven't ventured into the mines yet, will probably spend more of Autumn and Winter doing that as the farming workload slows down.

This game is my happy place, works perfectly on Switch

Thanks for the tips, I'll make sure to try them next time I give this a go :)

So the long, hot and wildly profitable days of Summer have ended, I've made it into Autumn in Year 1 :toot:

Summer was brutal, barely any days of rain so spent the vast majority of my time watering my crops then going straight to bed. Not really much fun, but the farming life isn't always egg festivals and soup tasting!

My Summer hot pepper empire saw me rake in about 50k total, which I've spent on upgrading to the top backpack. I've also started upgrading my tools which makes watering crops so much quicker.

I'm focusing on becoming the premier aubergine supplier during Autumn, with perhaps a few other niche root vegetables to keep things interesting. I've been visited by the Crop Fairy a couple of times which is nice, it visits during the night at random and fully grows a section of your crops for you

Bit fearful of winter coming, won't have any crops to tend so I'll be forced to spend my time clearing more land and exploring the mines some more :dread:

I love this game.

OH and strawberry float Hayley. That blonde bitch has snubbed all of my advances, what a hag :x

Came second in the Autumn Fair, my aubergines were clearly a big hit, so long and smooth :datass:

Managed to get enough Star Tokens to buy the Stardrop, which permanently increased my energy by 34 points, very welcome.

Now to plough (excuse the pun) all of my efforts into harvesting as much as I can before the end of the season, should have a very tidy sum to spend on upgrading all of my tools to at least steel level, then I'll be able to clear the big rocks and tree trunks from my property (and move the fallen tree near the Wizard's house, which unlocks the secret wood that's full of hardwood :!:

I've even managed to complete a few bundles in the community centre so that's slowly developing, but I think it'll take a few in-game years before I've finished that, there's just too much stuff to get for each season, takes too much work.

Finally caved in last night and bought this on Switch after holding out since I got the console for it to be on sale. So anyone interested in it will be able to get it on sale next week, guaranteed.

Feels good to be back.

1 week later and the night of the midnight jellies has just passed and summer is over. :( Been playing the hell out of the Switch version since picking it up. At the end of spring I was wondering whether the game had been rebalanced as I didn't seem to have much cash or many upgrades. But as I go into fall I've extended the house, bought a couple of chicken and a coop, got the silo and upgraded 3 of the tools to copper. Summer really does roll the cash in with the harvests. Looking forward to fall now.

Damn I love this game so much.

Crikey winter is a long season, or at least it feels like it :dread:

Been spending much of my time creating things like tree taps (syrup, mainly) and beehives for the warmer months to supplement my income from crops, and I now have 2 cows producing milk, so all of that will give me side money for very little effort.

Still not mastered fishing, seems very hit and miss for me, just can't do it consistently :x

Fishing gets easier the more you do it but it does have a steep learning curve compared to everything else.

Anyone interested in starting a co op farm on Switch with me? Gonna be streaming Stardew regularly so would be great to get a GRcade farm going!

I'd like to, but I can't commit to a regular time as I've got young kids and a neglected farmer's wife to keep happy :slol:

In my own game - I reached the bottom of the mines, quite pleased as I initially rarely ventured into them for fear of death :dread: . Dem riches though :datass:

I've now go quite a burgeoning little farm - 4 cows producing Iridium-grade milk, 4 chickens producing large eggs, 6 beehives, 6 tree taps and I've managed to get 2 rooms of the Community Centre completed. I'm also on the cusp of sealing the deal with Penny, been wooing her endlessly and need a couple more gifts to get her across the line.

Still not really touched the fishing as I struggle with the mechanics of it, but everything else is coming along nicely. I'm looking forward to unlocking the desert region, too :toot:

I married Penny, and find keeping her happy is easier for having two duplicators on my farm to slowly churn out an endless supply of emeralds and diamonds, which she loves. A bit cynical, but it works!

Just googled the duplicator (crystalarium), had no idea that was a thing :o

That's next on my shopping list.

I also only just discovered the quarry last night - beyond the mines past the Adventurer's Guild clubhouse and across a big wooden bridge (which I think was repaired when I completed a Community Centre room). Had no idea that was even there :fp: So many minerals and ores :datass:

Shelled out all the monies to complete the Vault community room, cost me something like 40,000 gold but it has unlocked the bus which takes you to the desert area (for 500g a ticket, what a rip off!).

I ventured into the Skull Cavern - died. The enemies are waaaay more powerful than in the mines, I'm going to have to invest in some high-end weaponary and clothing to stand a chance, along with powerful health and energy items.

Got my crystaliarium (thanks Grog!) so that'll start producing some revenue before too long, will have to get enough resources to build another one though so I can really monetise them effectively.

This game has taken over my life during the Christmas period, it's unbelievable how good it is. Even sat at work I'm thinking about what I need to be getting on with when I next play, what plans I've got to lay down for the coming Year 2 Winter (complete revamp of my crop locations, got to get smarter!), what treasures I need to get to complete the other bundles, long-term goals for my farm - it's a full-on addiction and I love it!
