Oh yeah it's great before sleeping as long as you keep tabs on real world time. It gives that same dopamine hit that reading a novel does for me. Great wind down.

:o . Wow! Thanks, Rex. That’s a magnificent gesture but I shall, if you don’t mind, decline the offer. I am gonna watch a couple of Stardew vids on YouTube again before deciding if I’ll give it a go. Thanks again, man :) .

Just buy the bloody thing! You’re bound to enjoy it. Really!

I bought the game in July, tried it a number of times and it didn't click with me. Went back to it a few days ago and am now mostly hooked. So yeah, don't give up on it completely if it doesn't hook you the first time.

Question: when I first played this I am pretty sure I somehow managed to obtain a pickaxe and axe which allowed me to destroy large boulders and logs. I am also pretty certain I wasn't as far into the game back then as I am now. On my current playthrough I have upgraded the pickaxe once but still cannot destroy boulders. Did they change something or am I just recalling my first partial playthrough incorrectly?

The copper pickaxe can break the large rocks in the mine, but not the large boulders on your farm - you'll need to upgrade to the steel pickaxe for that and gold for meteorite.

Thinking of buying this for the Switch in a few weeks as I've got a long flight back home. Is it the sort of thing suited for travelling? Playing the odd 15/20 mins here and then?

I find if there's bad turbulence then a relative Rogue-like helps me zone out and pass the time. Normally that game is Sperlunky but this game regularly makes me swear quite loudly. Might try this as it's quite hard to get angry over farming, though somewhat contradictory, farmers always seem irrationally angry at something.

It's perfect in almost every way. The only downside is that a quick 15-20 minute session can quite easily turn into an hour.

I think it would be a great game for travelling. Pick it up, put it down, relaxing, not too demanding, as addictive as crack cocaine!

Yeah I didn't think much of it on Xbox but I can see the appeal of it in the Switch to be able to pick it up and play about here and there. It is a shame it isn't a mobile game as it would be epic on phone or tablet.

I'm in my first Winter now. Haven't got enough cash to upgrade everything to gold....

Thank you!

Hmm. Yeah, I figured the boulder thing out, but I still can't make sense of how I was able to break 'em so early on in the game the last time I played it. Maybe I just imagined it... Oh well!

The positive feedback here in GR persuaded me to download this, too :) . I’ll be playing the Switch version... hopefully starting tonight as long as I ween myself away from Pocket Camp (which I’ll write about in that game’s thread later).

So annoyed that there's no physical version; the eShop doesn't work in Hong Kong so I'm gonna have to wait til I'm home over Christmas to get it.

I dont like this game.

I think I could probably play it until my flesh melted off my bones due to my physical inactivity.

It's that hook when you save! As soon as you are back awake you want to go outside and see what's going on. And then you've bought into another day....

Thats the issue. I was playing in bed last night to wind down after a long day, and I dont think my girlfriend understood the importance of checking my parsnips. (Though I guess if I keep playing in bed she'll never check my parsnip, either)

I have the melody stuck in my head and Im working from home today, I just want to go and check the farm.

The melodies are pretty much all complete ear-worms. Just been on my honeymoon and they were still going round my head!!
