Yes, because nothing official has ever been biased towards public opinion, has it?

So it's all a big conspiracy. What. The. strawberry float.

Oh I remember you're a Pool fan too. Coincidence?

I'd suggest that 'a guy at work' probably doesn't know a great deal about it either, so wouldn't then form an opinion based on what 'a guy at work' said before doing some more research.

Maybe that's just me.

Tell me this - hundreds of supporters pushing forward to try to get in without tickets, and this is not their fault? Did the police make them push forward? Were the police at the back, giving them a bit of a shove? Or was it just a bunch of out-of-control lunatics who ended up killing their own fans?

They opened the gates. Jesus strawberry floating christ! You clearly know absolutely nothing about this.

It caused a major change in the way the policing was done for major crowd control events, and a major change in the football stadiums across the country. The police have even admitted it and here you are the internet warrior sat behind your desk at home having heard 5 minutes 'evidence' about it saying it's all the fans' fault.

They opened the gates. How did that make the so-called fans push forward? When they opened those gate, a fuckload of freeloaders thought "awesome, I'm going to get in for nowt", and pushed forward. It was the greed of those people that cause 96 innocent people to die.

For the past 20 years they have. Heysel seems to be forgotten for some reason as well.

Was there a memorial service for that on the 28th May? I can't recall one, although there might well have been one at Juventus.

Let's not get into that again. The Heysel one definitely was though.

What the strawberry float are you talking about? It's not been forgotten at all.

There was alot of stuff about it in 2005 (when it was 20 years).

Yes there probably was a service about it too.

There's a message every year on the LFC site about it too, and IIRC LFC Officials go over there every year.

We've discussed this already, The Official report which looked at all the evidence decided that it was mostly the Police's fault. The Police force themselves admitted it was their fault. And yet there's still people on here saying it was 100% the fans' fault. You couldn't make it up (actually this is GRCade so you probably could).

Heysel was a terrible incident, and LFC fans had a huge part to play in that, no denying. They served a 6 year European ban for it too (that's a year longer than the other English clubs).

There were alot of other mitigating circumstances that contributed as well however, such as the stadium being gooseberry fool. On visiting the stadium the LFC secretary said "There's no way the European Cup final should be held here."

The LFC officials also told UEFA that the neutral section (where the wall collapsed) was a stupid idea as it would always end up mixed fans, UEFA went ahead and did it anyway. So the fans mixed. Trouble happened, which wasn't exactly unexpected.

The ignorance shown by some members on this forum is frankly staggering. It's not exactly difficult to look it up on the internet is it.

Here look, I've even been kind enough to create some links for you:

The Police opened the gates because they panicked. That didn't mean the ticketless Liverpool fans had to rush in. Those are the people to blame. The Liverpool fans should look closer to home before they are starting pointing the finger.

The rozzers opened the gate to try and stop people getting crushed up against. I don't know what they thought was going to happen when they did open it.

It seems to me that some people are slinging mud at Liverpool fans because it's Liverpool, and not because they actually know anything about it.
