Only not as good. I liked the barrel bit, but not as quality cinema. Like most the film it was like the kind of film you'd watch while riding a rollercoaster or watching one of those novelty 4D films

strawberry floating hell this series of Fargo looks a bit far fetched.

Disappointed at no new music in that trailer, hope Billy Boyd got some royalties for it...

I liked the use of Pippin's song a lot actually, nice subtle way of tying things together without being like "Oh look its Frodo lol"

It wasn't that I didn't like it so much as I just wanted to hear some new score. The music in the first Hobbit got me so hyped :datass:

I don't care about the criticisms, I'm hyped for this.

One thing though: is it the super mega high framerate that makes everything look so... grey? Lord of the Rings was very green in places, but this has quite a washed out look. That or the CGI has just aged a little bit, but it does look a little odd.

Still, cannae wait.

The middle earth saga....

Only because they made it one! The first 2 movies told absolutely strawberry float all of the story. I expect more of the same.

I don't mind the first two films.

I don't expect it to be any better or on equal footing to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so that probably helps.

Yeah, it was a nice little touch. While the new films haven't been as good as the previous trilogy I've still really enjoyed them. This one is looking to be the best of the three (fingers crossed).

I know it's easy to be cynical about these, and they are too bloody long, but I love a good fantasy-world blockbuster at Christmas, and these do the trick nicely. I shan't bother with the iMax this time around, but I still see it as basically essential viewing, and I get pretty hyped.

Next year, Star Wars picks up the mantle. Who gives a gooseberry fool about crushing disappointment when the hype is so much fun? :D

I have loved and hated both Hobbit films (the same goes for the LoTR movies). The changes from the books annoy me but I just can’t help being drawn into that world.

The first five minutes of TDoS at the iMax was majestic. The rain, the mud on the floor, the atmosphere. The relative warmth of the Prancing Pony. In terms of drawing the audience into its world, it's pretty much unparalleled, for me.

It's like a big, warm, snuggly Middle Earth duvet, it's lush when you get all wrapped up in it! :slol:

Tickets booked for all 3 films (HFR) in Belfast on Thursday :D

Did the same for TLOTR trilogy so quite excited to be able to do it again for this. Pity they're not actually showing the LOTR trilogy straight afterwards, I'd be up for it :datass:
