That's exactly the part I can't get past

Last attempt I got as far as the ceiling dropping but you still being aerial only, just in an even more confined space, and it is frustrating as

Yuppers, same. Severely missjudged the hitlag on that. I've still got like over 10 charms left to find so might come back later; one of them is bound to give me a potentially better option

The Soul Master can go and strawberry float himself. Sick to the back teeth of trawling all the way over to him. Those strawberry floating soul teleporter mummy strawberry floaters just do my nut. The damn bench is just too far away.

Figured out what I needed to do, git gud. Got gud and kicked his ass. :datass:

Decided to push on and finish it last night. Just got a few more charms to find and should be 100%, but I think I'll give it a break until that next DLC comes out as I know I'll be burnt out by then.

I thought that after taking some time out of the 'main path' to defeat an optional boss (in the Greenpath) in the form of the Mantis Lords (not too bad actually), the next main quest boss would be a walk in the park...

...nope. Jackass. Not sure whether I hate it or the journey to it more.

About 40 hours in on Switch, and pretty sure I am now able to go to the final boss at the Black Egg.

The Watcher Knights took me about 30 goes, but I then went to beat Uumuu first try.

Advice please: is it worth continuing to explore and get more Charms, Grubs, etc. prior to taking on the final boss? Or does it not really matter? I've run out of stuff to spend Geo on and I am far off being able to get the final Nail upgrade.

It's a tough boss, and max nail will definitely help. I used quick nail, jonis blessing (or whatever it's called) and damage up.

I thought the final boss wasn't too hard and I left the Watcher boss right to the end as it was evil to beat. And I didn't have the final Nail upgrade

I think I'm done with this now.

Just done the Resting Grounds section and had no idea where to go from there. Looked it up and apparently I have to buy a Simple Key to unlock something in the City of Tears. There was nothing that indicated this was what I was supposed to do. Instead, I spent ages trying to get to the three Dreamer icons that had just appeared on my map, only to find I couldn't.

I'm fed up with it now, tbh.

Do you mean the hollow knight or the radiance? I am assuming he meant the latter.

That's not the only place you can get a simple key. It also kind of feels like a complaint about how the genre works?

I meant whatever is in the Black Egg... Assume it is The Hollow Knight.

Instead this evening I found The Hive and The Abyss - finally got the Shade Cloak!

Sounds like you're bad at the game.

After a few tries, I managed to deliver the flower to the traitor's son's grave. Idk if there was like an intended or obvious way to go, but damn, it was pretty terrifying toward the end.

Just got to the boss in The Hive, to then go on to get the last grub, but I'll save that for another day. I got to a point yesterday where I felt like I was just starting to clean up now, but damn, I'm still finding new areas to explore, albeit some are small, and there are still areas I can't even access. This game is amazing for feeling like a long, deep journey.

I also didn't realise you could upgrade your health or nail for a long time. I found getting extra soul bubbles on a whim, and then health too. Feel a bit silly. But with max nail, The Colosseum round 3 shouldn't be too bad now... right?

Absolutely. I'm not a Metroidvania player generally, but the praise for this really got me hyped. And I enjoyed the start, where the Dark Souls influence was felt over the vania one. Now that split seems to have reversed however, and I'm at the stage where I'm constantly trekking across the map on half-arsed hunches that go nowhere, and getting lost a lot. If that's the genre then it's absolutely a complaint against it.

It's a dick thing to say but you're right. I am bad at the game! Not at the bosses persay, I've not had any significant trouble with any of them, but exploration wise I am.

The lack of signposting is a pain in the backside. There are lots of Metroidvanias that do this sort of thing better than HK, so I'm not sure it's a complaint about the genre. I remember Prime actively signposting where you needed to go next if you took too long. Nice to be able to turn that sort of thing off for those who enjoy stumbling on the way forward, but for many gamers, it's handy.
