Ah, okay. He wasn’t too bad, it’s the Elegant Key git who took me the thirty tries! Or, er, two with the upgraded nail.

So haven't really been playing but decided to go back to it today. I've got 3 charms left to get and I still can't find 'em. I'm so lost. Finished the hunter's log thing tho bar 1.

Made some good progress on this over the weekend, I've now encountered two of the dreamers so only one more to go!

Still got plenty of areas that I know I need to explore further, and I've probably only got about half of charms!

Which two? I’ve just got the one in Fog Canyon to go.

At the moment I’m leading a daring raid on some of the kingdom’s cutest inhabitants. Feels kinda bad. :(

NOT THE BEEEEEEEEEEEES

I think I've done the ones in Fog Canyon and Deep Nest

I'm currently on the lookout for more Pale Ore so that I can upgrade my nail further. I also still have no idea what the rancid eggs are for!

I had no idea what they were for until I looked them up on the wiki after finishing the game. They are basically useless

Ah okay, fair enough!

I also managed to forget for ages what the point of the stuff you collect with the dream nail was. When I eventually went back to the place where you get it I had over 1000 essence so picked up quite a few rewards in one go!

Picked this up as I wanted something a bit more substantial along side Captain Toads Treasure Tracker. Obviously I'm aware of the hype and pricing the game so competitively makes it an easy impulse buy, I hope the devs are rewarded for this.

First impressions, I love the art style and music. Getting a Limbo vibe from it. The combat is cool, nothing too difficult but I like the Dark Souls inspiration in making the fodder enemies relatively easy but always demanding your attention. I really don't like the jump, I've quickly improved but I still don't have confidence in it the way I do with a Mario game. The quick reload is genius, this game would be much worse if your punished for environmental deaths. I don't like how much of the map stays blank, I've got the compass, the thing that marks benches and I just got the pen (?) but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Still, I love how utterly absorbing it is, I constantly feel like there is something for me to do and I'm really enjoying just exploring the world.

You need to encounter a certain character in each area and obtain a map before you can start charting the areas you explore.

I've made some more good progress on this, I've now located The Hive and have upgraded my nail a second time! :toot:

Going to head back to some of the bosses that were handing me my arse recently and see if I can tackle them now...

Yeah I got way further in, really enjoying it. It's having the same effect as Dark Souls in that I'm almost skeptical to keep playing as I'm sure I'm going to come up against something mind numbingly difficult.

I think I'm close on the grub front, although I encountered my first fake grub last night!

I still need to work on getting the fully powered sword I really need to get my explorers hat on though as I'm three pieces of pale ore short and it doesn't feel like there are that many places I haven't been!

And I'm done. Haven't played for a couple of days so can't really remember what the last thing I did was. Just spent an hour and a half traversing the map to find to all the points on the map that showed the area wasn't complete but there is no way for me to progress in any of them. Clearly there is something I need to do somewhere that I've been but I don't know where it is. This is a poor example of a metroidvania, keep your hidden stuff hidden but the main line shouldn't be this difficult. It's a shame, I was enjoying it but the horrendous platforming and inconsistent combat don't make aimlessly wandering very appealing.

Afraid not.

*Edit* To be clear, I really, really like this game. I'm just frustrated that I can't continue without searching every bloody room I've already been. The platforming is definitely rubbish though.

*Edit 2* I thought I'd look at a guide and I think I'm stuck at some bouncy mushrooms, it looks like you have to hit them to bounce higher :| . I know that it's almost the guaranteed path to critical success to have a fairly obtuse game with little to no explanation of the systems but what about that is intuitive?

Slightly surprised by that one. I got really frustrated with some of the lack of signposting, so I agree with you more than O_R (not on the platforming though, I think that’s pretty good), but I instantly knew what to do with those mushrooms. I suppose I assumed what was intuition for me would be so for others. I can see it would be damned annoying if it’s not!

I hate the delay after pressing the button, I'm used to Mario in that you can get to the very end of a ledge and press jump just before you're about to fall.
