Pet hate of mine for open world games this.

The new god of war is like that. Big angry man can lift and throw boulders and rip trees from roots in battle. Small branch is blocking the path? Nah can't move it mate.

It is a bit weird in GoW sometimes, but I don't necessarily mind it there as much because it generally sells itself as being a more linear and restricted experience, but when it's an open world game and you can clearly go somewhere but they just put an invisible wall to block you I get well annoyed

So far I've got to max level which is 60 in the DLC expansion. I've fought all new enemies apart from the final DLC boss. Also got a few new legendaries and a new type of weapon and it's upgrade.

So far it's an enjoyable, if brief, venture back into the world of horizon.

Highlights are the one big new machine and the onr new weapon type. For the price of the DLC I'd have liked a few more machine types to fight.

Wish my image sig would work

Started this yesterday.

God, I wish the VA had more bite / less earnestness to it.

So that whole first hour of the game was for... zero story progression? strawberry float's sake.

Good luck.

Most of us found it to be boring and tiresome.

I didn't go back to it yet. :dread: :fp:

Jumped back into this for a bit of a change from other stuff I'm playing. It's generally pretty fun but every now and then the combat becomes utter bullshit and I find it hard to give enough strawberry floats to try and get through it

On a bit of a mission to try and finish off a bunch of games that I'd left in limbo on my backlog and this is now up on the list.

I refuse to believe that anyone actually enjoys the combat in this, it's so strawberry floating fiddly and annoying and just fundamentally not fun!

Can’t wait. Need a release date. Nixxes have done a good job of previous ports.

I did eventually finish this on PS5, a bit of a let down as an experience sadly. Crap combat and a weaker story than the first made for a game that never really found its footing and ultimately left me feeling cold.

Looked strawberry floating amazing at times though

While I agree that it's not as good as the first, I think "crap" combat is harsh. I found it a lot of fun, with a lot of options which can be switched up pretty quickly, my main criticism would be that some of the enemies are too bullet spongey.

They also move insanely fast for giant robots. I was constantly diving everywhere to try and avoid taking a hit.

I liked this a lot and it picks up a bit as it goes along but didn’t hit anywhere near the original. The story of zero dawn and how it came to be was one of my favourite in all of gaming. Uncovering the past piece by piece was so compelling. Forbidden west doesn’t have quite the same mystery so it loses a lot.

Yeah neither the Far Zenith stuff or the "rebels vs tribe" business is anywhere near as compelling as the story from the original which once it got going was actually really interesting.

I genuinely found the combat to be poor personally, and one big turn off is what Daz refers to - it seems like so often you just found yourself constantly having to try and dodge attacks and often the enemies movements were impossible to predict or avoid and it just becomes a complete chore. Some of the ways they tried to expand the combat were less that successful as well I thought - the melee was still rubbish, but now there were more ways for it to feel rubbish! The additional ammo types just made it so you spent even more time swapping weapons unnecessarily etc.

I actually agree with these combat criticisms (to a lesser extent) , yet I still found it enjoyable as other elements of it were well crafted and rather unique. I think they added too much and would like to see it scales back a little in the sequel. I liked the F/Z storyline, though I did find it weaker than the first.

I also felt the Ted Faro reveal was poor and a wasted opportunity.

I really enjoyed the whole experience (playing on easy makes Aloy a goddess in battle rather than a clumsy hunter) but I wish they had held off on the Zeniths until Horizon 3 and instead had the game be putting GAIA back together as the main mission.

I’m hoping H3 moves away from the mainland and becomes a robotic Wind Waker set across an island chain like Hawaii. Overriding a Tideripper and sailing through those waters would be fun.
