And just in case you guys missed it, Will Poulter will play Pennywise in the new It film.

Pretty interesting he's gone for someone so young but will reserve judgement till at least the trailer, I like the director so pretty confident he will do justice to the old film :)

Listened to Kermode's thoughts on It Follows last night. He seems pretty enthused by it, but it just sounds lame to me. Very cliché and a bit dull. Would probably watch if it came on TV, but wouldn't go out of my way to see it from what I've heard.

Evil Dead is interesting, but the story behind the making of it is far better than the story in the movie.

Dull and Cliche, possibly, but it was heavily involved in the creation of those cliches.

Evil Dead was and is amazing still. When people watch it much like watching Clerks it's good to know how little it cost to make and the lengths the creators went to get it made.

On it's own though i still find Evil Dead a brilliant horror film with a great sense of humour to it. A recentish one which Sam Raimi did was Drag me to hell which again had hints of humour and also some of Sam Raimis random special effects that he used in the evil dead films.

Martyrs

no idea what your tastes are but Martyrs is genuinely disturbing torture-porn (i hate that term but it describes the content quite well). can't forget that film even after how ever many years.

Are you thinking of Evil Dead 2? IIRC Evil Dead 1 plays it pretty close to straight. Few hints of humor at all.

I always thought Evil Dead had some sense of humour , at least it didn't take itself very seriously all the way through which was different at the time for a horror film. I guess great is maybe an over exaggeration, maybe more subtle especially compared to Evil Dead 2 which was pretty much a dark comedy.

Ah well i really enjoyed it. Saying that though my previous recommendations for films in this thread failed miserably for some so i'm probably just easily pleased with anything

I thought Raimi was trying too hard to replicate Evil Dead's humor (Laughing goat's head, anyone?!)

Can't wait for the new Poltergeist film. Gonna watch it in 3D :) I remember watching the original ones when I was like 6 years old and they scared the hell out of me :)

The scariest thing about the Poltergeist films was the old man.

I hope they do the 3d properly like a proper horror filme should be. Lots of things flying at the screen, lots of different crazy angles and layers of depth to items otherwise it's wasted. STill one of my favourite 3d films is My Bloody Valentine 3D which stars Jensen Ackles. It's a cheesy as hell horror film and it knows it is but the 3d is just brilliant.
