Horror Films

It's that time of year again. I love horror films. I don't really get scared by them, apart from the Paranormal Activity films nearly putting me into cardiac arrest last week. I think that's more cheap pops than the premise though. The film equivalent of hiding in a cupboard and jumping out at passers by.

Just finished watching Creepshow for the first time, highly entertaining. Didn't know Leslie Nielsen and Ted Danson were in it either. Their section was my favourite, as well as the germaphobe and the weed man. At some point this week I intend to watch Invasion of the Bodysnatchers (78), Trick R Treat, The Exorcist, Zombie Flesh Eaters and Basket Case.

So what are your favourites? Any obscure recommendations?

Child's Play is good, Halloween is my favourite horror film. Both have terrible sequels.

Fun fact, the weed man? Stephen King himself.

If you liked Creepshow then move Trick r Treat to the top of that list; it's basically a sequel and it's amazing. Perfect balance of horror and comedy.

If you want something a little of the beaten track, Splinter, Pontypool and The Bay are worth a look. Splinter and Pontypool are both really original takes on a Zombie/Body horror type thing, and the Bay is a mockumentary (mostly found footage) biohorror.

I also quite like the original Grave Encounters. It's a bit like Session 9 if it was written for kids with ADHD.
