Krampus is good fun but not a patch on a trick r treat.

It has some brilliant moments the root to roof jumping and the dinner table argument. Plus the ending is good. But overall the characters weren't as good as they needed to be to make it as good as it should have been.

The Witch is amazing. It is a slow burner but creepy and not scared to go where it needs to go. Also best Goat in a film since The Revenge of Billy the Kid (obscure horror and goat reference)

My favourite horror movie of the 2000's. Completely shot on location at an actual abandoned mental hospital. It's incredibly atmospheric.

Watched Conjuring 2 this evening. I thought it was decent (but with due deference to brerlappin's comment, it was completely formulaic ) and I actually jumped quite a few times.

Has anyone seen Spring?

I watched it at the weekend and it comes thoroughly recommended. Please understand that it's not your typical horror film, it weaves a few genres together that honestly reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth. Fantasy, romance, horror, black comedy. I wouldn't watch the trailer, just read a synopsis if possible. It's on Netflix if anyone is interested.

I will warn you, it does contain Danny Dyer's big brother for 10 mins but it's not too bad

- Can anyone recommend any kind of dark/adult fairytales? A bit like Pan's Labyrinth I guess, which I wouldn't class as horror, but some might. Basically dark/twisted takes on classic fairytales, or just fairytale-like originals?

- I was browsing Amazon earlier and noticed a TV series called American Horror Story...has anyone seen it, and is it any good?

American horror story is garbage. Schlocky trash, not scary, just relies on gore and sex and that's it

I enjoyed it, it's entertaining for the most part, though could've been streamlined a little much like most series'.

Season 1 and 2 are ok; it goes downhill after those. Two, in particular, is great.

AHS is a mixed bag.

Season 1 is alright, season 2 is better, season 3 divides people but I enjoyed it a lot (was much breezier than the first two) but I got bored and never finished 4,, and thus haven't started 5/6.

For your first question I can recommend The Hallow and Don't be afraid of the dark.Both are dark fairytale like films.I think both are actually on amazon video at the moment .

Also don't listen to Brer, AHS is a really good watch,each series it changes the story, location and theme but uses most of the same actors. It's fairly gory in places and I thought was a good watch ,I'm on series 3 at the moment.I wouldn't say it's scary though but no tv show is really going to keep up jump scares and continued horror for multiple episodes,it's all more about the stories which are very dark.

'Before I wake' is a horror/ fairytale. 'The Babadook' can be classed as that as well. 'Sleepy Hollow'??

I haven't seen American Horror Story yet, but some of my friends say it's great.

Have you seen The Devils Backbone? Same director as Pans Labyrinth.

Hoping for some decent horror films to be shown with Halloweeen approaching. I know the Horror Channel are showing Let The Right One In, which is great. They're also showing Eden Lake and V/H/S, which sound a bit average, but I'll probably check out anyway.

Eden Lake is pretty good if you're into brutal, strawberry floated up torture movies.

V/H/S is pretty good, I'm sure you'll find at least one of the short films in there worthwhile. I've yet to watch the sequel, or the third for that matter.

I remember back in the day, come Halloween there would always be a pretty good line up of horror on the TV. Nowadays it's non existent

Not really horror but I liked the ABCs of Death 1 and 2.

Season 6 of American Horror has started pretty well.

Oh, and I watched The Visit, which was ok, and Conjuring 2, which was also decent.
