I've seen or read about quite a few cool details they put into this game since finishing it on Thursday. I pieced together the basics of the story, but a lot of it kind of went over my head as I just wanted to reach the next level and hear the next track. I really quite like where they took things though, it's a pretty sad game when you look back at it.

I agree that the level design isn't as good as the first and there are some pretty consistent AI bugs, but I still enjoyed my time with it and I'm glad I bought it. I think the soundtrack might be better than the first overall.

Top 5 tracks:

M|O|O|N - Dust
Magic Sword - The Way Home
Magic Sword - In The Face of Evil
Vestron Vulture - New Wave Hookers
Green Kingdom - Untitled

Five just isn't enough.

Bought this on a whim tonight and just did the "roof" bit and I agree with what everyone else is saying. Great game, amazing style, incredible music but nowhere near being as good as the first game. I am enjoying using guns though and Alex and Ash are super cool even though the gun one is a bit glitchy. I usually fire a shot off to draw enemies out and then chainsaw them as they come through the doors.

I instantly set R1 to shoot in any game that has the option of changing it. 8-)

Getting further into the game now and just done the next level after "First Blood". Definitely going to have to replay the first game to remind myself where some of these characters fit into that story.

There's a story?

"The level design is terrible"
"Too much reliance on guns"
"Bullshit offscreen enemies everywhere are cheap and ruin it"

Yeah and it's a lot better developed than most AAA games I've played recently.

Though that's not a single run. Combo's reset to the number set when you enter a room. In the end that took him over 40 minutes.

Not a fan of how far you can look in this game. Off-screen kills doing my head in. Wonder how long before someone mods it.

Anyon know if there's any plans to press a CD of Hotline Miami 2's OST? Been listening this afternoon and it's superb. I like having stuff like this for the car.

Currently it's only available as "DLC" on Steam if you bought the game.

Hmm. I'll probably be getting it on Steam next week so I'll grab it then I guess.

Trying to finish HM1 on PS4 before I buy HM2. The "end boss" with the panthers and the ninja girl was ridiculously hard and not fun at all.

Just got my first couple of S ranks. One using the flamethrower/knife combo on the first Honolulu chapter and one on the next level using Alex and Ash. I can understand the complaints about the levels being too big and open for quick attacks and big combos and scores but I don't think it's all that bad really. I think the key is to finding a technique that works and Alex and Ash have been great for building combos and just going straight in for speedy kills. I'm not a fan of Tony at all though as some levels you can't be without a gun. Same goes for the snake mask that gives you nunchuks. I fought all the way to the end of one level using that mask only to find that I couldn't finish it as you have to enter the final room and shoot a guy quickly who is facing the door with a gun. Pretty dumb that something like that wasn't changed but there you go.

Is that the one where you have to avoid the guards? Yeah, not good that bit.

Next stage (and the accompanying track  ) makes up for it.

Hospital level sucks arse, but I managed to finish it quite quickly on PS4, not so much on PC.

You can usually get them to follow you if you let them see you briefly then melee them when they come round the corner.
