I noticed you have a Live account, so presumably you have a 360. Why not watch it on that in 1080p? Personally I'd always choose to watch Netflix on my TV given the choice.

Haven't used my Xbox in years, not since getting a proper PC, so I don't have a gold account and I don't believe I have a 48 hour code spare. The Xbox is connected to the same monitor as the PC so it wouldn't affect that.

The so called 'HD' quality is pissing me off too, it doesn't look anywhere near as good as it should. Which is a real shame considering how well shot the series is.

Is it worse than normal film HD? I watched Drive the other day and I really couldn't complain.

Lonesome Jim though. It was barely SD. :x

HoC looked pretty great for me in 1080p. Not Blu-Ray great obviously, but very good nonetheless.

So a 1080i copy of s01e01 popped up and the quality is way better but still USTV rip 1080i quality, anyway the first 25 seconds or so it has the Sky Atlantic logo in the top left corner of the screen? I thought it was Netflix exclusive??

And I noticed it seems to have at one point, a hard coded subtitle to German translating the newspaper headline. The entire episode is in English and there are no other subtitles yet. Very odd. And wouldn't explain the Sky Atlantic thing either as I thought it was Netflix exclusive across the globe with Germany as no exception.

I think Netflix only has exclusive rights in countries they operate - there is no German Netflix, which might explain why it airs on Sky Germany.

Also Netflix only has a timed exclusive on the show. Once the window is over distribution companies such as Sony will be able to broadcast the show on other formats such as television.

So just watched episode 13 after a mini-marathon. What a great TV series! Netflix have got themselves a winner. I look forward to season 2 but not the wait! Hopefully by then Netflix HD will actually look HD and will offer 1080P through the browser, and perhaps even rival Netflix US for quantity and quality of content.

That goal of Netflix to become the new HBO before HBO can become the new Netflix seems so much less far-fetched now. I'd love to see if new memberships went up substantially this month.

Pretty great stuff, but the ending isn't as satisfying as I would have expected. You're just left with a (not actual spoilers, just being careful) suggestion of what will happen, rather than actually seeing it. A lot of build up without the pay off..

I actually quite liked that aspect of it, they're so confident a 2nd season is assured that they can choose to pace it how they see fit.

No it isn't.

The Google work environment is meant to be awesome, it's hard to think of a more exciting company to work for (self-driving cars, android, 20% Friday freedom to create own project day). Google just doesn't fit the stereotype of a big evil faceless corporation yet, though they have the potential to become such a thing.

Yeah that was great. I do like how they made Underwood a videogamer and how he uses it as a stress relief tool. They made the product placement at least fit into the persona and story of the character.

Finished it, ending was quite odd like Aaron mentioned but it was a very good season nonetheless. I do think I would have preferred Frank to have not killed Peter. I mean, I knew he would die but it seemed at odds with the way Frank manipulated everyone around him usually without them knowing for him to 'get his hands dirty' as it were.

Loved it overall. My only real sticking point is that there wasn't much resolution but since the second season is already under way, it's not a big deal.

Spacey has to be a favourite for Lead Actor.

Am on Episode 4 now. This is very good. Spacey is one my favourite actors, and he is godly in this.

Episode 10...who the hell is this guy Peter mentions when angry...

He threatens to tell someone about Kerpaniac...Capaniac....and...the Kernel? I don't get what he had on Frank.

Season gets a B+ from Alan Sepinwall, In the end, Netflix's 'House of Cards' good but not great:- http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watchi ... -not-great

Pretty much what I'd give it. Has it's problems but still 2nd best new Drama behind The Americans. Going to be a long wait.

Just finished episode 1 which was the best thing I've seen in ages. Spacey's performance was magnetic and he really shone in those Iagolike soliloquies.

I have to disagree. I don't see why the The Americans is getting so much praise. House of Cards makes it look so amateurish.
