Ruthless and cunning, Congressman Francis Underwood (Oscar® winner Kevin Spacey) and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) stop at nothing to conquer everything. This wicked political drama penetrates the shadowy world of greed, sex, and corruption in modern D.C. Kate Mara (“American Horror Story”) and Corey Stoll (“Midnight in Paris”) costar in the first original series from David Fincher (“The Social Network”) and Beau Willimon (“The Ides of March”).

Yeah, very much looking forward to it.

All 13 episodes on day one too, wonder how that affected production.

This is going to be The Next Big Thing in TV, and will reignite Kevin Spacey's career. I feel it in my bones.

Two days to go.

Apparently Netflix put up 100 millions dollars and outbid HBO for this.

I've watched the first episode and I really liked it. Spacey and Wright appear very well cast and the whole premise is intriguing if you're a fan of political drama. Feels very much like a television version of The Ides of March, which I always felt would have been better suited to an episodic narrative anyway. Will need to watch more to make a judgement, but it's a promising start as far as I'm concerned.

Ill give it a go some time next week, sounds like it could be a damn good show.

Edit: Just saw the first episode is available for free, no subscription required, pretty good way to drum up some more business.

The pilot was fantastic, ticked all the boxes.

Yeah, it's pretty clear Netflix are going straight after HBO. Such competition can only mean more great shows all around. Hopefully this does well enough for them to continue forward with more original programming beyond what they've already announced.

Watched the first 4 episodes.

Its like a nastier version of West Wing. Spacey is brilliant.

They literally said as much. "We're aiming to become HBO faster than HBO can become us", or something like that. Based on this, and assuming Arrested Development lives up to expectations they're well on the way too.

I hope this somehow forces HBO to get their shows out in the UK in a better way. There's literally no way to watch them online (legally), is there? I'm kind of moving off buying DVDs, and who can be strawberry floated watching stuff week to week with ads if it eventually does get broadcast over here? The only way I'm getting to see Game of Thrones S2 is if I pirate it.

Well there's Sky Atlantic, which has been showing HBO stuff pretty close to the US air dates including GoT. The problem is you need to pay Sky's ridiculous fees and get a dish installed for the privilege. And then enjoy adverts on top of everything else!

I've been buying the GoT Blu-Rays because it's ace, but I have no qualms about downloading the episodes from Usenet as they air.

Any of you watch/remember the original British version (or even realise there was one)?

Obviously this is going to be very different.
