My interest in this is pretty much non-existent. It was shite when Spacey was in it and he was the only good thing left in it. The rapey prick.

Not sure he was even that good in it. That constant 'I'm talking to the viewer' thing was cheesy as hell acting.

I didn't watch season 5 (didn't think I'd watched season 4 but turns out I did 
), but I'm sure they'll find a way of getting Spacey out of the picture early doors in episode 1. He'll probably be killed by terrorists and it'll just show footage of his car exploding or something and then that'll be that.

Honestly, they left it on a pretty lucky plot point for this, iirc.
Spacey had resigned the presidency over corruption charges, leaving Claire as the current president with the plan to give him a pardon. Though it looked like she wasn't going to do it.
So they could easily just go "Yeah, he's not around anymore."

My girlfriend suggested just replacing Spacey with Arnold Schwarzenegger and acting like nothing was different, which I thought was actually a brilliant idea.
