How do you say mobile numbers?

Many folk seem to think that. The correct way is 020 (7 or 8)xx xxxx. Some shops and companies even print their number as (for example) 0207 456 789. It should be 020 7456 789.

Because 020 is the code for London, with the next digit indicating inner London (7) or outer London (8). In either zone you can dial a number in the zones by leaving off the 020; but you have to dial either the 7 or the 8 to start.

But some (perhaps most) people who live in London and have one of these types of numbers get this wrong .

I think the rest of the country are able to make the fricative 'S' noise at the end, too.

I've found myself doing the xxx-xxx-xxx-xx, seems to work for my number.
