PostRe: How do you watch TV these days, have you "cut the cord" yet?

Only shows I watch on Freeview are the 100, Black-ish and the Good Fight. Everything else is Now TV, Netflix, WWE Network, ?UFC Fight Pass or just downloaded if there's a significant delay between the US and UK airing. Streaming on my Chromecast or sometimes PS4.

Sky just seems like a massive rip off these days. Used to have it for Sky Sports but I got rid of it because I was virtually always working whenever there was a game on I wanted to watch so it was just a waste of money.

I just dip into the Now TV Entertainment Pass every now and again if there's something I want to watch like new GOT, Westworld or Southpark.

Being tied into 18 month contracts along with a satellite/box installation just seems so archaic these days.

The only paid streaming service I have all year round is Amazon Video through my Prime subscription (which handily pays for Warhammer TV on Twitch too), the others I just dip into now and then.

I really like Now TV, I buy the 3 month prepaid cards so they don't debit my bank account, at the moment I am using a free 3 month pass that I won on McDonalds Monopoly

I would like it more if they didn't drop your progress on a show after 30 days if you dont watch an episode, it means having to track progress externally for shows I pick up now an then.

Was part of why I dropped it in the end as well as it not being available on Fire TV.

I have not really had that problem, I use Now TV on the Xbox One downstairs and we have a Now TV box upstairs and the iPhone app occasionally for documentaries if I’m waiting somewhere when I’m out, the hate thy neighbor documentary was really good

Yeah it is only an issue if you don't watch something for a while, it just annoys me that it does it when everyone else keeps you progress indefinitely. Its just a stupid omission by Sky. ITV Hub is awful for basic function too, it has no sync of progress of any kind so if you watch on 2 different devices you need to remember or track elsewhere you progress on a series so you can avoid starting the wrong episode.

Hardly ever watch anything on Freeview anymore, nearly everything I watch is on Netflix or Amazon video, with the odd bit of 'high seas' acquisition for stuff not on either service.

Films tend to be bought on disc still, especially 4K stuff as Netflix has a pathetic selection and Amazon are even worse.

An LP group on YT that I watch put out at least an hour of content a day that I'll usually keep up to speed with, not counting the weekly 3 hour podcast or any extra streams some of them may do. Then l fill in any other gaps with Crunchyroll for my weeb trash.

If I somehow still have free time after I caught up with that I'll see if there's anything worthwhile on Prime since I should make use of it somehow. I don't keep a Netflix sub running but will sometimes jump in if there's something interesting.

We've always been online only. We usually have Netflix and either NowTV or Amazon Prime (whichever gives us a good deal if we threaten to leave or have a discount code for).

Some lassie at work was practically bragging about her sky bill being over £100 a month. Ridiculous. How much TV can you actually watch in among? Cost per watch must be dreadful.

One of the big features of the SkyQ box is how you can record 6 programmes whilst watching a 7th (or maybe it's even more), and I can safely say in the 16 years I've had Sky+ such a scenario has never occured.

Just get a monthly one for that period? I considered it for bake off but that went to channel 4 and the good stuff went to Netflix.

See if you can get TV Player it gives you a bunch of Freeview stuff streamed over the web and if subscribed you get a cloud record option too.

There's a free app called TVCatchup which is essentially streaming all the Freeview channels.

Might be worth giving a look.
