Move house recently so don't really have awareness of any recent work being done, might check with the neighbours to see if they've got any info

Engineer has arrived and agreed to putting the ONT upstairs. He's started drilling, so hopefully doesn't change his mind now.

You’ll probably find it installed in the bathroom.

My new speed:

Not quite the minimum 400mbps promised, but it was over wifi and I understand it can take a few days before I'll get the proper speed.

Still, it's an immediate speed boost.

Edit:

So much for it being a few days until the speed got here. Just ran another test (again over wifi).

This is mine at the moment which is the fastest you can get here. Once you've got two PCs on it working from home and a kid on YouTube/Xbox you definitely notice how slow it can get. Any game downloads/updates I have to run overnight.

Thankfully the new house has access to 1GB lines from Virgin so I'll definitely be upgrading to that once the move happens later this year.

My net has been gooseberry fool since going with iTalk, regularly cutting out, getting g speeds of 2mb, strawberry floating shite. I wonder if I can cancel it and not be charged, as it's been like this since I went with them a few months back.

If they are not providing the speeds they promised, then you can leave.

I don't know if I mentioned on here but I have a TP Link Archer VR2800 that I got off a friend who has emigrated. I was planning on setting it up with my Virgin Hub 3 in modem mode to see if I can get some improvements in Wi-fi signal and speed around the house (I have a Virgin pod/pseudo-mesh thing but it's not very good IMO).

However, VM have just given me the 18 monthly contract renewal phone call and we'll be getting a Hub 5 (with extra pods) because they're putting us up to 1Gbps. Would doing my whole external router thing still be of benefit or should I just stay with the Hub 5 as an all in one?

My broadband (FTTC) was incorrectly cut off at the end of November. I might finally be getting reconnected today (FTTH). And then the compensation calculation happens.

About as good as I can get here. I can see the exchange from my back garden. Not holding out hopes for FTTH any time soon. So happy enough.
