One Chip Challenge: Amazon and eBay pull spicy tortilla from UK shop

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-66753429

Amazon and eBay have removed a super-hot tortilla chip linked to the death of an American teenager from sale.

It's been recalled in the USA, where it was widely sold, but imported versions from global sellers remained on-sale.

Amazon said it would remove the product from its sites in Britain, Europe, the Middle East and Africa after BBC Newsbeat contacted the site.

Inspired by this grim story, what's the hottest thing you've ever eaten?

Wish my image sig would work

One teaspoon of Blair’s Ultra Death Sauce

Or

That Lidl Inferno pizza that they did that one summer and never brought back (presumably because people couldn’t eat it). That thing was strawberry floating amazing. My mouth waters every time I think about it and I’ll never have it again

I had spicy chicken nuggets at the markets here. I love spicy food, even I felt like it was over the top. It burnt my lips when contact was made.

I finished it though. I cried while doing so.

Nope, IBS means anything hotter than a 'medium' curry has serious negative effects on my guts, even then it's a bit of a gamble.

Not very spicy at all. Anything that hurts to eat or causes my eyes to water gets a no from me. I've tried upping my limit before but it never worked. Plus hot foods tend to play havoc with my digestion. I don't know what sort of scale we're working on but on the CoCo Curry scale I either go regular or mild.

Barely any heat tbh. Maybe I just have a sensitive palate, but I always find it utterly overwhelms all the other actual flavours.

Probably a curry in India where I gave it billy big bollocks to the waiter and told him i could deal with whatever they had up their sleeves and he shut me the strawberry float up and absolutely blew my head off.

A red bag of Doritos in the 90's.

I don't have a very strong constitution.

Not the hottest thing I've ever had but recently went to Wagamama's and had the tofu firecracker which was so much hotter than I imagined.

I'd say generally I'm quite good with heat, but this had me breaking out in a sweat and downing glasses of water

I'd say my taste buds are comfortably above "white people hot" but below "drunk white people hot" (i.e. I don't do Vindaloos or Phaals).

For Nandos I go for hot marinade with extra hot sauce and coleslaw on the side to control the spice levels. My normal curry level is Jalfrezi or Madras. I'm disappointed if my mouth doesn't have that spicy sensation at the end of a curry.

Those little green chillies are my limit, not because I don't like the taste, but because they give me the hiccups!

It's bad enough trying to pull that kind of gooseberry fool over here!

I can take a bit of heat when it comes to curry, the hottest i go is a Jalfrezi the local curry house i use for takeaways is good sometimes the heat is fine other times it can be too hot for my liking. When i go to Nando i get medium chicken but i get the hot sauce for the plate and that is pushing it

Had a Phall from Sainsbury’s when they stocked it and just about managed it. Never tried from a curry house, but probably not. Love a Vindaloo, which is also usually my limit before it becomes unpleasant.

Iceland did a Carolina Reaper curry that I ate but just tasted off nothing but heat. Once you pass the point of tasting any flavour whatsoever I don’t see the point.

Pot Noodle’s Bombay Bad Boy is pretty hot, and easily the best one they do.

I can’t recall anything from our chain restaurants being too hot as to be completely inedible though. Domino’s had the Meltdown The Revenge at one point and never come close to matching it since.

I had one of Iceland’s Carolina Reaper curries a few years ago and their Carolina Reaper chicken drumsticks about a year before that. Phenomenally painful experience, but the taste was actually quite nice on both counts. The drumsticks were bizarre - I could actually feel where in my body they were as my body was breaking them down and digesting them. Such a strange sensation.

Naked Noodles are my go to instant noodles of choice (only occasionally have them) and the hottest ones I can manage to eat are the Firecracker chicken ones, they no longer do my favourite ones though (Massaman curry) so usually opt for the Singapore curry or Laksa ones which are still spicy enough for my liking.

If it's from a curry house, then a Balti, if its shop bought, a Jalfrezi.

I typically go for a Saag as I just enjoy it more really.

I prefer milder dishes; over the years I have gotten used to some slightly spicier stuff (occasionally something like a Rogan Josh but that does seem to vary a lot). I'm never gonna choose a vindaloo or a phaal, though.

I enjoy trying different curries although I haven't eaten them much in recent years. I recall trying one that had bits of banana in it... I can't recall what it was but it was quite tasty!

Just a bit of black pepper if I'm feeling adventurous.
