Varies day to day from 15mins home to work to 3hrs home to work. Generally though drive into London takes about 1hr 15mins and about 1hr 30mins back home.

I was only thinking earlier today how lucky I am to work from home. But I did spend many years commuting across London daily - I hope I'll never have to return to that kind of nonsense again.

Don't think I could stand working from home constantly. Once a week I could handle but I much prefer it being the exception rather than the norm.

50 minutes door to door each way, assuming the trains all play nicely. Which is a rather bold assumption sometimes.

I'm currently flat hunting, so am commuting from Blackpool to Manchester, public transport. 2 hours in the morning, 2 and a half in the evening if I'm lucky. Up at 6.20 to get in for 9.

I actually think it's killing me.

10 minutes roughly each way. Although this morning was a real nightmare like you wouldn't believe and it took me nearly 20 minutes to get in.

My commutes for my entire professional career have varied from 1.5 to 3hrs each way to as little as 10 minutes.

Now I'm self employed partly because that gooseberry fool sucks the life out of you.

At one point I was shortlisted for interview for a company where the recruiter failed to mention the location - I figured out it would take minimum 2.5hrs including multiple train legs, a bus and cycling to get there. I didn't attend the interview.

4 minutes by car, or 25 minutes by foot.

I should really walk more often to save my waistline and my car.

The thing is though, the walk is through a couple of fields and muddy footpaths, so this time of year with the cold and the wet I'm all like:

Between 30 minutes and an hour and a half, depending on how many strawberry floating retards there are driving that day.

Between an hour and an hour and a half. I can deal with the driving but I don't think you ever get used to getting up at 4.45.

With a reasonable salary and about 13 weeks off a year I would struggle to go back to more normal hours but strawberry floating 4.45.

I live in Camden/Kentish Town and work at eight different sites across South East London.

Waterloo - Northern Line Charing Cross branch - about 40 mins.
London Bridge - Northern Line Bank Branch - about 40 mins.
Camberwell - two trains - about 50 mins.
Lewisham - Northern Line then a train - about an hour.
Streatham - train then a bus - about an hour.
Woolwich - Northern Line, then a train, then a bus - about 1hr 20 mins.

We've only just started doing the more remote sites so I've not been to Orpington or Beckenham yet, but it looks like it will basically be the same thing, just earlier :dread:. Having said that, I'm not getting up at 4:45!

I like the commute if I'm honest. I get to read, and my wife works in Westminster so I can meet her a lot of the time after work. I have worked from home before. I found I wasn't productive, and didn't really feel part of the workforce. Being cooped up at home all the time drove me mad as well.

Over 2 hours door to door. Taxi, train, tram, tram, walk. I work from home a lot though.

About... 12 minutes walking. Absolutely glorious stuff.

I dread the day I have to move out of the city and start taking the train.

Mine used to be 50mins to 1 hour. But at work they recently moved my base office en extra 35miles away so I had to move. Just wasn't feasible to drive close to 2 hours each way but according to them it was under their 2 hour policy.

Just moved into a share house today which makes my commute just 20mins..my first time living away from home. Sharing with 4 other people around my age. But haven't bumped into them yet...
Everything in the house seems alright so far except for the low water pressure in the shower :/

Just went exploring around the city this evening (Chester), its small like a miniature city but has most things that I'll need I reckon. Not as busy as Liverpool though so will take me some getting used to. Can't see myself living here in the long term though.

The poll really should have had some more options for under 30 minutes time scales.

I'm either <5 minutes, 15-20 minutes or 40-50 minutes by car depending on what site I'm working at. I pretty much try and make sure I never have to go to the furthest away site if I can possibly help it. A 50 minute drive home at night is horrible, don't know how people cope with really long commutes, although I suppose its a bit different if you are on public transport.

London. Company car. I have two offices that I can be in depending on the day. Door to door for the nearer office is 20-30 minutes. For the further office it's 35-40 minutes door to door. It used to take a bit longer before work got me a BMW 3 series.

There's only one seriously congested part in both journeys but it boils my blood with how stupid some of the drivers are around both sections.
