With the next gen just a few years away do you expect to keep buying games for this gen?

With the install base of all machines being pretty decent I don't foresee developers dropping support for quite a while. I think it may even be 2025 before we see a final stopping of most content but will you still be buying or are you expecting to be upgrading and dropping this gen for good before then?

To be honest I think this is the best point in a machines lifespan, lots of cheap secondhand games floating around things coming out that really get the most out of the hardware.... I would like to wait to get the next machine till this gen has really run its course but I will proberbly get excited and bite too early

Yeah, I'll probably stop buying games around the middle of next year, and wait for the next gen.

Doesn't seem any point in another gen yet, the current consoles are still great and i don't see any significant graphical improvements over the horizon.

I'm hugely enjoying this generation of consoles and I'd be happy for them to go on for several more years!

My PS4 still feels like quite a "new" system to me... even though it's been around for five years now!

I'll probably jump in at the start of next gen if there's full BC and the likes of Game Pass at launch.

If you are talking about Just Dance and Call of Duty (especially the former) then maybe.

But the majority of titles? No way. Assuming next gen comes in (late) 2020, I'd expect that by 2022 there won't be any premier AAA title games coming for the current gen.

It'll be over once The Last of Us Part II is released.

Yeah this. I don't mind paying out for a new console but I'm done with paying £50 for games, especially gooseberry fool launch titles.

I just don't understand that mentality at all. I'll keep buying games for the consoles I've got for as long as there are new ones I want. They could release a new PS1 game, and I'd buy it if I wanted it. Plus there aren't really defined gens anymore, with Nintendo being in the middle.

Can only really predict Sony as there's a usual pattern when it comes to treating legacy consoles.

Providing PS5 launches in 2020 then...

Sony will support PS4 with first party games until 2021

Most third party support will dry up in 2023

PS4 production will end when PS6 launches (2027)

PES 2028 and FIFA 28 will be the last PS4 releases.
