It's a simple question, as I am a simple man - how much could I expect to shift this stuff for should I decide to sell?

I have:

A Dreamcast
2 controllers.
1 VMU

Sonic Adventure
Jet Set Radio
Soul Calibur
Shenmue I
Shenmue II
Shadowman
MDK 2
Power Stone
Chu Chu Rocket

It is currently unplayed - indeed, the Shenmue games haven't even been started - and if it was a decent amount, I would be tempted to get rid.

I'd say £80 to £100 in total, but possibly more when sold separately.

I am in a similar boat, and have over 20 games including Shenmue 1 and 2, but have held on to it for nostalgic reasons. I did take it out over Christmas and to be honest, even with the VGA adaptor the games look dated and I doubt I will take it out again.

As it was Sega's last console it might be best keeping it, however it is now over 10 years old and may fail one day soon, so could be worth just shifting it. I reckon if I got over £200 for my collection I would consider it and it's only the Shenmue games that are keeping me from shifting it.

Can you even get the VGA adapters at a decent price? Last time I looked it was something stupid like £35 for knock off home-made ones.

I think Shenmue 1 and 2 are probably the most valuable parts of the collection, especially if still sealed.

Official one is very tough to find. I have a GAME branded one and it works ok, but even with it the games look dated now, and I keep it there for nostalgic reasons, to say that one day in the past videogames were truly magical.

At the time I didn't get one as I was playing it on a bog standard CRT TV.

Just had a look now and they all seem to be around the £45-50+ mark :x

I'd say £5 for the lot, but because I like you I'll give you £6 and pay for delivery :datass:

I would say your looking at £70 tops. There's no way it's anywhere near a £100 even if you sold it separately. The Shemue games combined are probably £40 Mark and the console £20. The rest are worth a pack of Doritos with a dip.

£20 for a Dreamcast console? That seems an overestimate really.

I imagined the two Shenmue games might go for the price of a new-ish game separately - about £30 each. The second, especially, was quite rare, I thought?

It is a shame, really, as when I bought the console back in 2004 (and got given Shenmue II for free by a friend) I think I would have really enjoyed the game, whereas now it will seem even more dated (especially on modern TVs).

It is just trying to find the time to play the thing. I cant have actually used the console for more than a dozen hours, at most.

My problem with Shenmue 2 (and probably the reason I never bothered finishing it) was that they didn't bother dubbing it, just subtitles. :x

The dubbing was gooseberry fool though.

Dreamcasts were going for peanuts up until recently. They've recently started going for around the £20 Mark if it's mint boxed I'd say £25. most of the games are around the crisp packet Mark 50p!

The Shenmue games themselves funny enough aren't actually rare. There were plenty of copies printed. They're desirable as they are highly rated on dreamcast. Rarest game on dreamcast is probably Evolution 2 although finding Moho was a little troublesome.

Yep, I think I probably overestimated the price. Probably best worth keeping.

I did spend quite a bit on some dreamcast games a couple of years ago to fill up my collection and kind of regret it as I won't play them again and they aren't worth so much. I guess you can't be a true gamer if you don't own Sega's last home console hey?

I do like playing Shenmue II on Dreamcast for the sake of authenticity. But loading times are improved on the X-box re-release, so I'd probably go with that version if I were to replay.

Saying that it's a marvel that that kind of scale of game was doable on the Dreamcast.

To summarise, don't sell up unless you really need the money and can't see yourself playing on it again.
