Adam Curtis released a new documentary last night at 9pm. It's only on iPlayer and is about three hours long.

So if you're in the mood for being super depressed it's a good watch.

I just had a read of the guardian review. It sounds interesting but 3 hours is a hefty time sink. If I do it might have to be in a few segments. I don't think I've ever watched his documentaries before though, are they normally quite depressing.

The message I took away from one, was that it was impossible to change the world and we're all doomed.

There are meant to be chapter breaks in this one so you can stop watching and come back.

Oh definitely joyful then. I do like a good documentary anyway.

From reading the review it sounds like a modern retelling of Guy Debord's "The Society of the Spectacle" and Theodor Adorno's "The Culture Industry," both written in the 1960s but highly applicable today.

i was thinking about this during and just after watching, but i think his style works and is probably the best option for what he's trying to get across.
its 2hrs48mins long already, and the subject matter is so broad if it was filmed like a convetional documentary it would be 20 hours or something ridiculous. its conveying a message and trying to push people to do their own reading/research on his subjects and declarations. if he was writing a book in the style of the documentary then he'd be rightly criticised.
