Anyone wanting to get into the series really should check out Mr.Jeff's thread over on rllmuk http://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/t ... sjan-29eu/ It's a very thorough post and he makes good use of spoiler tags, so you'll learn where to start and which order to play without reading more general spoilers.
It also has a similar write up of the Legend of Heroes games.

welp better get started with few Ys games I've got but not started

Looking good so far!

I own two but have only completed Memories of Celceta. It was great. The one I'm yet to complete on PC (a gift from Mr Jeff ) is very good, too.

I've completed three (Ys 1, Ys: The Oath in F-something; and my favourite so far Ys Origin). Got Ys II, Ark of Napalism and Celceta to play through.

It looks great, especially that first screenshot. I've got Memories of Celceta and all the Ys games on Steam but I haven't completed any of them So many games, so little time!

Yeah, the first screen had me all zomg! I wanna run around and twat stuff in that and fight/talk to the dragon! I hope it isn't just load screen art, or something.

Origin is the one I have on PC. Very different to Celceta in some respects, but the gameplay mechanics are just as good if not better.

Looks great! Love the logo. Really looking forward to this, if it has cross save I might double dip on PS4/Vita. If not, playing a home console brand new Ys game will be the way to go for me....unless it supports PSTV

Guess I'll just get the Vita version then, having it on the TV and portable is the way to play.

I'll probably buy/rent day one PS4 and will purchase Vita version in sale, if it isn't cross-buy.

I got up to the door of the final boss on Oath in Felghana and then didn't go back. Scared of picking it back up as I'll get annihilated.

You didn't even go in?

Some of the bosses in Origin had me feeling a bit like that. How am I supposed to beat that?!

Humans were the most annoying for me, could not get Epona's pattern down at all.

I need to go back and finish all the Ys games I've got, haven't even purchased the ark of nepotism yet because of this.

I just saved outside the room with the intention of playing again the next day. I tend to play in small chunks rather than hours at a time. But I just never went back for whatever reason.

Might have a go tonight actually.

I think the only Ys games I haven't completed are Origins and Ys V (please do a remake Falcom on PS4/PC).

Can't wait. Looks lovely, and thankfully is coming to the PS4. Traditionally there seems to be a faster turn-around for Ys localisations than The Legend Of Heroes, so hopefully the wait won't be too long. The PS4 is finally starting to come good for the type of fare I enjoy most.
