... by a 14 year old kid! Let me explain..
Yesterday I was at a BBQ at a friends place, it was a lovely day and everyone had a great time. The food was brilliant, the good chat was flowing and everyone enjoyed themselves. Afternoon turned into night, the BBQ turned into a bonfire, the laughter turned into song and the happy children tired into grumpy monsters. It was a very fine day, no problems whatsoever.
However.
We didn't take into account how much to drink a friend of the host had drank. She was absolutely slaughtered. She threw up all over the couch, then threw bottles at the wall. I've never seen anybody as drunk as her in my life. I've worked in pubs all over the place, supervised off-licenses in rough towns, seen my fair share of drunken eejits on nights out... I've been there, done it, ruined the T-shirt, but this was something else. We felt a bit remiss afterwards for letting her get to that condition, we simply didn't notice!
Her son, a 14 year old chav, was there too. He wasn't too pleased about having to stay with his Mum at a party full of adults, but other than that he didn't seem too unpleasant. He sat and chatted away to people, not that he had much choice, however he didn't seem out of place. When he saw how drunk his Mum has got he became a different person, a total beast. He was dragging his Mum out of the chair, pulling her hair, screaming and shouting about how she should be ashamed of herself etc. When he became a bit too physical with his Mother I decided to act, as there was nobody else sober enough to handle the situation. I stepped in between them and suggested that he should back off as he wasn't doing his Mum any favours. At first, he wasn't cooperating, but he wasn't being hostile by any means. After a few minutes of talking to him as I would any adult, he switched completely. He headbutted my straight in the face and punched me as hard as he could on my right temple. He has a bloody hard punch for a 14 year old, I tell ya!
I stood where I was and continued to try to calm him down, which seems a bit stupid now, because when he saw that I was perfectly fine after his attacks he decided to punch me again and launched a huge rugby-style kick into my right leg and knee. I decided at this stage that I can't allow this to go on, so I grabbed him by the arm and forcefully lead him to the front door and pushed him out. He struggled a bit, but not enough to stop me. I turned around, closed the door.... then walked away, only to realize that I'd made the biggest mistake I could have made; I'd forgot to lock the F******* door!
After a couple of minutes he walked back into the house, sought me out, and delivered a huge barrage of punches to my face and arms. I didn't raise me hands in defense or attack, but I had to use every ounce of patience to stop myself doing so. I clenched my fist at one point and nearly lost my rag, but managed to keep controlled. I continued to talk to him throughout all of this, but he just wasn't listening.
I won't tell you what happened for the next 15 minutes or so, because it was just more of the same. It'd get repetitive. His Mother was deliriously drunk and no taxi firm would take her, completely understandably. He started attacking a taxi driver who refused to take her home, until I intervened again, which too resulted in more punishment. Although by this point he had figured out that I was able to take the beating, so it was more of a half-hearted effort from him.
Eventually, an ambulance arrived to treat his Mother (who had thrown up all over me) so they took both of them to the A&E ward. They left, we went back to the BBQ house and went back to bed.
I woke up this morning with a very painful nose, but other than that fine. If I had hit him back I could have found myself in very serious trouble, so I felt quite good with myself that I'd been able to hold back. My nose looks extremely swollen, as a result of the headbutt, but no other bruising has shown up yet. Bloody kids
