Aye, I'm going to make an emergency doctors appointment tomorrow IF I'm still in pain.

Just to A&E tonight.

Also, whether you're in pain tomorrow or not, get yourself checked out. You might not feel the pain now, but in a few days/weeks it could hit you like a ton of bricks.

You're probably right, I'll do what you suggest. Thank-you.

If he is, as you say, 6 foot and that aggressive, I'm pretty sure you could have gotten away with "reasonable force" to defend yourself. There is nothing in law that says you have to take a beating from anyone.

To be frank, I didn't want to hit an angry child that clearly needs help. I've no intention of getting in a debate on the matter though, I did the right thing. If you can't see that then I hope you don't get into a similar situation.

If you seriously hurt someone defending yourself then it is you who would have got the blame had it become a police matter.

In other words heart says beat the gooseberry fool out of the kid, head says don't harm the kid.

Sorry, but if he's man enough to throw a punch at you, then he should be man enough to expect a beating in return. Seriously if some kid done that to me I wouldn't hesitate hospitalizing the little strawberry floater, then maybe he'd think twice before lashing out like that at someone.

You've let that kid know that he can hit older people and get away with it. I hope you're happy.

Yeah I think you'd have been within your rights to restrain and defend.

And even if you did get in trouble, your pride might still thank you.

You'd have been well within your legal rights to restrain him, I'm sure you could have used your strength advantage to pin him to the floor/wall. Then just hold him firm enough to be uncomfortable/mildly painful until he calms down, say "I'm gonna let you go, if you go for me again you'll strawberry floating regret it, alright?!".

You've shown him who's boss without having to punch him, didn't break any laws, or bones. Everybody wins.

I realise my words mean nothing as I myself have not been in a situation where I've had my ass handed to me by a minor, but I think I would have caused some bodily harm to the yoof! if the shoe was on the other foot. I'd have taken the first couple like you did, then try to restrain him, if that didn't work, I'd knock him the strawberry float out.

Worst case scenario everyone else was too pissed to be a witness.
