At least Microsoft/Sony did it right.

Umm....as people have said, if you contact Nintendo you can get it sorted.

It's still not excuse why Nintendo doesn't do what Steam/Microsoft/Sony did, they should be able to record what you've bought from their online store(s).

Also, Nintendo customer support would be alot of hassle, especially for deaf gamers.

They do. If you link your Wii with your Club Nintendo account, you can get all your VC games transferred over.

They obviously do keep a record, just not in the same way.

Ah that's good then. I did link Club Nintendo account to my Wii before I used any of Wii points/download any games.

Maybe I am safe then... :shifty:

I'm not sure you get it, I'm pretty sure the way you get them transferred over is to ring up Nintendo and ask them to do it.

They are linked, but Nintendo don't offer a way for you to transfer the games over yourself.

So I could use the new one and give my old one to my sister or something rather than faffing about with selling it when I probably wouldn't do anything with the money anyway.

Does anyone know if there is any way to transfer my VC games to a new Wii without having to get Nintendo to do it for me? I've synced up my Nintendo online account with the Wii shop, is it simply a case of linking my account again on the new system and downloading the games or is it more complicated than that?

The VC games are tied to that Wii and that Wii only. However if you contact Nintendo and tell them the situation they might be able to sort it for you.

Didn't linking to your account on Nintendo site allows you to re-download VC games on another Wii because it registers your right of owning the game?

Meh, my Wii better not die until I found out if above is actually the case.

Nope. I found this out the hard way when my Wii recently packed up, and I lost a good £60-£70 worth of VC games.

It is the very definition of shoddy, a method of digital delivery without even bothering to record what belongs to whom. Ridiculous, really.

Eh well thats changed then about a year/18months ago when my Wii went poof and Nintendo wiped my save data by mistake   I downloaded mine back to my Wii...
