Anyone else been following this?

I only picked it up last week while I was ill but have now fully caught up on the five episodes there have been and I have to say it's really entertaining.

It's basically just Zombie Live Action Role Playing filmed for tv. It started off with a bunch of players arriving on a base where they would be set daily missions to survive. New survivors have steadily come in throughout and others have been killed of during the stuff they're asked to do which has steadily got more complicated and now it's getting quite exciting as you never know what's coming next or who is going to be next to get eaten as it's entirely down to their competence.

It's rather cheesy and low budget and a lot of the time you think they probably could have pushed things a bit more to make it seem a little more advanced than a game of run outs but all in all its about the most entertaining zombie related thing I've seen on to for ages.

The idea seems to be that they have to survive a week from when the first survivors went in and there's been five episodes so far so two more to go but they're all still on iPlayer I think so well worth catching up on.

I saw the first one a month or so back and thought it was utter gooseberry fool. What put me off most in the first episode was how everyone was acting like it was a joke "the Zombie almost got me - LOL!"
It is supposed to be serious so you would be utterly shitting yourself if one got near you.

Watched the first 2 and a half episodes and got bored. Bunch of twats apart from 2 or 3 of them and just wasn't entertaining.

Yeah, that was definitely present and still is to an extent. Though several times the group do get visibly upset when one of them 'dies' I don't know how you'd eliminate the jokey aspect of it because ultimately they all know it's a game and it's a bit silly.

Maybe introducing a cash prize for survivors would be fun to see how seriously some people then take it and how willing they are to throw others under the bus.

It definitely gets better from ep 3 onwards as tensions in the group build and more interesting people die and others join.

Maybe I misunderstood this. Is this supposed to be set in a "real" zombie apocalypse or a pretend one (I've not seen past the first episode so I never saw anyone get nabbed but I assumed it was supposed to be "real"). If it is a real setting then the jokey aspect shouldn't be there because getting caught and eaten by a zombie is literally no joking matter. If it is a pretend thing and everyone knows this then I guess I probably watched the first episode wrong.

It's a reality show as I understand it. I'm sure the 'survivors' were told to play up to it being as real as possible but you can only take it so far, otherwise they'd start stoving in the heads of people pretending to be zombies :dread:

Trust me, I've been to the zombie mall by Zed Events and that gooseberry fool is real. Everyone involved was well into it so the people on this show are obviously not doing it right. Adverts looked gooseberry fool anyway.

Definitely.

TM what do you mean it's real at those events because as others have said even if you try your hardest to get into it, it still blatantly isn't actually real. Not like any of them are going to be genuinely fearing for their lives.

Its neither reality enough, nor gamey enough. It doesn't seem to know what its own rules are and as such I find it very awkward to watch.

When I say it's "real", I meant that I got completely absorbed into the scenario and lost myself. Was the most amazing fun I've ever had.

Just watched the penultimate episode and it continues its upwards trend, it's still a bit farcical and hammed up but then tensions amongst the group begin to come out over a week which leads to some pretty dickies behaviour.

I just like the role playing aspect of it I guess, no matter how silly it is, if it does get recomissioned for another series I'd love for them to make it a lot more brutal on the contestants and not treat them like babies quite so much. Even though this group does appear to need it.

What annoys me most about this is that In the flesh was not renewed as BBC said they don't have budget for renewals and new content. So because of gooseberry fool like this, no more in the flesh.
