I imagine it would be a bit like the start of Sonic 1's Scrap Brain Zone Acr 2, where you're jumping between spinning cogs.

I hate indoor cyber Sonic levels - keep him out in his environment!

Turn based combat? GTFO.

Yeah because continually backing away from someone whilst firing arrows is such a better way to do things. RPG's work better when turn based, end of.

No, turn based combat is a throwback to an ancient time, and should be cast into history. It is bollocks, and should never be used again. Menus aren't fun.

You haven't read the OP, have you?

I'd love to say The Lost World mixed with Resi 5 gameplay, but that's mixing up generations. I honestly can't think of much else, I've been somewhat disappointed with this generation.

I have, but it's such a rubbish idea I felt something had to be said.

EDIT: A better idea would be to remake Oblivion in a Zelda style.

Do you feel all turn based games are throwbacks, or just RPGs? Serious question, not a troll, open to all.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I dislike it in every genre. I play Pokemon, but the battle system still gets on my tits when doing so. I'd certainly prefer to have a bit more control over the combatant, such as being able to use skill to dodge attacks, instead of hoping that the random number generator favours me.

The skill is still there. It's just switched from "twitch" gameplay to strategy and tactics.

Have you played any turn based strategy titles, for example Civilization 4? That's a whole genre built around turn based gameplay. Or X-Com for that matter, in my opinion one of the best games ever.

Or Chess? I've heard good things about Chess.

Aye Shadow, but Chess lacks the main thing that mcn complained about which is the factor of the RNG, the only imbalance in Chess is who gets to go first.

A full game of this would be dynamite.

The obvious one would be making PES/FIFA into top down games with the gameplay of Sensible Soccer.

Personally I'd love to see Okami remade into a 2D top down rpg.

Why are we all just suggesting these games be done in a 'top down view?'

Anyway I think Burnout would work in a Spyhunter style:

I can see it as a more tactical top downer shooter...like Commando with brains. Or possibly Laser Squad...hmm.

Left 4 Dead in the style of X Com.

In fact, pretty much any modern game in the style of x com.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:
