True. Then again do you need a thankyou? The smug sense of self satisfaction is usually enough.

I choose to believe that good things come back round to people who do them So if I don't get thanks it's nice to know something good might happen to me later in return so to speak.

Im not usually one to believe in karma, working for the police i see all kinds of scum who never get what is coming to them! its depressing really.

But a prolific car thief had a car accident and ended up in a wheel chair. Not nice, but karma? maybe!

I know it sounds stupid but I don't strictly believe in Karma. It's just what I choose to think. Sort of when it suits me.

The problem with that is that people are rarely grateful for your good deed. Not to say that you deserve a reward, but most definitely a thank you. Some old guy once left about £250 in the ATM. I take it and run up to him to give it back. Not only did he just snatch it out my hand then walk off with not even a smile, but the strawberry float that was behind me at the ATM took my place. :x

In my yoof, I had a paper route. In the two years that I had that route, I must have found 15-20 front door keys left in the door/the car outside the house. Upon knocking on the door and returning keys, I probably received a thank you twice.

People, in general, are ungrateful twats.

True, people can be ungrateful, but I still don't think that makes it right to take a wallet you find, especially as you don't know the person and there's always a chance they could be incredibly grateful.

Yeah. I'd like to think someone out there would do it for me should the occasion arise. My phone has been handed back to me twice back in the day. That was a year or 2 ago though. The phone was shite. I couldn't get rid of the thing.

It's all about the Karma baby.

I would return the wallet, and as I'm not a scumbag thief I would definitely not take the cash.

I've lost my wallet twice, once on the tube. with about £100 in it. I put it down on the floor to eat my Maccy D's (yeah I know, I was drunk) and then promptly forgot to pick it up. It turned up in the post about a month later minus the money it cost to post it too me.

The second time was even luckier, in a pub in Clapham and I get a random phonecall from some girl saying she had my wallet and to meet her outside. Not only did she have my wallet, but she had my car keys and my Archos. Apparently they had all fallen out of my Jacket when I had taken it off. Bought her a drink to say thanks.

Was like my second thought though when she phoned me

I'd hand it in with all the cash. Being honest has worked out for me the past few times. I got a £20 reward for handing in a wallet, when I handed in a purse the lady phoned me up and offered to give me a £10 reward (I turned it down, didn't feel right taking money from a pensioner) and I found a phone once. It was only a pretty cheap one but the kid who came to collect it was really greatful, as were his parents who I talked to on the phone...I even felt guilty for using his phone to call them when I found it.

On holiday in Scotland on a rocky beach I found a woman's purse a little under a rock, there was money, cards, and everything in it, but I gave the thing to my parents who were able to send it to her. (I trust they took nothing).

I think she sent me £20 back, in return, which was lovely.

If you found a piece of technology abandoned on a train, chances are it was the Governments, anyway.

Am I right?

I don't believe in karma at all. If you do nice things there is no guarantee you will be rewarded for them and a lot of the time you won't (in fact, often you are punished). I think in order to be a good person you have to accept that you are going to suffer because of it, that you are going to have to sacrifice your own interests.

I found someone's wallet on a bench once when I was little.

I turned it in to the Police because I'm a good boy. :D

I'd hand it in.

I lost my bank card once, and was gutted as it would be a load of hassle to get a new one and cancel all my direct debits ect - however, I went back to the shop I lost it in and it had been handed in, so if I came across something valuable, I'd hand it in.

I'd hand it in, no doubt about it. Although if it was a big bag of money, i'd probably take the lot since there's no ID proving it belongs to anyone.

When i was about 15/16 (10 yrs ago) i found £50 on the floor near my house, so i kept it. I'm sure if i found a wallet with money in though i would return it if traceable.
