Came in here to post about BioShock. I was one of the big, big fans of the game on here...and even I don't think it's the 2nd best game of Modern Times. It was an amazing concept executed reasonably well but with some horrible flaws. The endgame alone should exclude it from a position so high on any list. In terms of effect on the larger gaming world maybe, but not for the game itself.

Bioshock is an amazing game, but to rate it ahead of many better games is laughable. It would not be in my top 20 games of all time at all.

They do say the list is the order in which they should be played and not necessarily their quality ranking.

Then they should have put in the not so brilliant ones at the top and the brilliant ones at the bottom if that's the case.

I think it is. Few games I've played have resonated with me quite as much as playing that for the first time did. It is a special game, no doubt.

I would say that Gears 1 has the superior 1P, but as far as modernness goes, IMO the Horde mode in Gears 2 should have made the list.

Often copied but not bettered. It pioneered a "wave score attack" mode in FPS. I cant really think of its predecessors coming close, and i welcome to be corrected on this one.

The only bad games there are Resistance & Killzone and whilst yes, they are pretty dreadful. I think it's unfair to say they completely drag down the rest of his choices.
